  1. I know someone who made it top in the local boards last year and she graduated in one of the "never heard" nursing schools in a province. It's up to the student, you may have the best teachers in nursing but if you don't have the passion and will to study, better not go into nursing.
  2. My sis-in-law doesn't have a SS#, took the NCLEX in Guam just this month. She got the result in 3 days coz her sis in Texas paid for the quick result(don't know if it's the right term). Maybe the CA BRN have this kind of service.
  3. I have gone through the application form of Illinois BON, there’s one form about confirming the license. Does that mean I have to send that form to PRC for verification despite the fact that they need the CES that also verifies licenses?
  4. I plan to take TOEFL for Illinois BON's approval for nclex since it is the only english exam required. For VisaScreen, I'll be taking IELTS(I'm afraid of the TSE), please tell me if this is the right thing to do just to get away with the TSE.
  5. If you have been in and out of US while your visa screen is being processed, will there be any possibility that your immigrant visa will be denied when applied in your home country since the embassy will know it and as far as I am concerned, when you go to US on a tourist visa, you should not have other intentions like wanting to be employed.
  6. Suppose you've gone through all the cgfns papers/nclex and english exams by yourself out of US(without the help of agency & never want to get the help of an agency), how do you find an employer in US especially if you're a new graduate?
  7. Absolutely right, what's the use of application forms, you apply because you comply for their credentials, means you are evaluated......or are they after the application fee.....??
  8. You're right, I've checked with the cgfns and transcripts are needed. Anyway, thanks again.
  9. She did not send the school transcripts when applied for the cgfns exam. I know that for CES, it is required but I've checked the website of Illinois BON, it is stated that for those who have applied for the cgfns exam can avail of CES free of charge but refunds will not be made for the exam(of course in her case, it can't be refunded since she took the exam a year ago but failed).
  10. Ok now I know, how about if getting CES, does she need to submit papers again to the school and licensing body considering the fact that she had already done it .
  11. I try to figure out options of taking NCLEX in Illinois.I got confused when I read the application form for NCLEX in Illinois BON, it was clearly stated in the application packet that the SS# is mandatory. How could that be if you’re a foreign graduate nurse and never even been to US?
  12. My sister failed the cgfns exam last year, had passed IELTS though, she now plans to take the NY route upon learning that cgfns exam is not needed . Would the NY CVS take lesser time than usual since the cgfns had already her data. Is it a right move?
  13. If a BSN graduate is never licensed and applied for CES, what happens to the form of validation for license, shall it still be sent to the licensing body?
  14. Thanks for the quick reply Suzanne, here's another question, I know that CVS is done by cgfns alone, you only pay. Do you have any idea if the data that they are asking in CVS is the same as those data needed in CES(transcripts & license verification)?
  15. 1. CVS for New York State 2. Form 1 for initial licensure in New York State 3. Visa Screen application. Those three steps are for NY, right? Which one comes first? Can it be applied at the same time?
  16. Do you need to schedule an appointment in US embassy for notary or just go there at office hours?
  17. I have a follow up question, someone I know will be taking the NCLEX for CA license. As have said in posts, CA BON will not issue a license without SSN#. What if she passed the exam but doesn't have a SSN#, what will be the next advisable move?
  18. I'm posting this again for a friend an here's the question... I just got my BSN diploma here in the Philippines. Don’t have plans of taking the local board exam since I’m not going to practice nursing here. I want to work as a nurse particularly in Chicago. Any tips on what steps to take. I don’t have any relatives to petition me or even a tourist visa to US.
  19. Is it advisable for a newly graduate BSN from the Philippines to go to US on a tourist visa and start working from there on becoming an immigrant to practice nursing?
  20. Thanks Suzanne, it's a relief to know that.
  21. I have a follow up question, what about if he is to get a visa screen which is required when applying for an immigrant visa to US, from what I know, it requires one to be an RN since cgfns needs a verification from the PRC(the licensing body of the Philippines)right? So in his case, how could that be if he is not yet an RN since the PRC won't allow him to be an RN in the Philippines.
  22. I am posting this for a friend, Chew is Chinese citizen but finished his BSN degree in the Philippines, too late to know he can’t be given a license in the Philippines since he is not a Filipino. Is there any other way he could get a greencard in US to practice nursing.
  23. I just passed the dec 2005 board exam and attended the jan 23 oathtaking, one of the boards said that the exam would be different this year, that's true, it would be equally divided subjects.
  24. a month before the exam, try to wake up everymorning as you are like to be taking the exam and practice simulated exams using the same time the local board exam is given, this gives you time to adjust for the big day!:)
