Discipline/Termination of employment while on probation
Has anyone in the forum ever get into trouble at work that resulted in either a write up or (heaven forbid) termination while on probation??? I've been on probation for almost a year now for a diversion that happened in 2021. Up until now everything has been great. I've been compliant, sober and found a good job since then. My issue with this job does not include substance abuse, or a direct violence of the absentee policy. Nor is it related to poor performance or lack of skill. But I was rude and insubordinate to my acting director and was sent home early and now HR is involved. I'm just wondering if anybody has experience with this and can let me know what I should be expecting with the board should the worst happen?

Any tips with Ar probation/monitoring?
From my experience, and from what I have learned from others on this forum, once the board knows you have problem there is no getting out of anything. It doesnt matter how long you have been clean or what you bring with you, they will insist on some type of monitoring to keep your license. If you have the option I would recommend going through the diversion program. It is alot of responsibility and it is expensive. But they keep it confidential, which will help you immensely in the future. If you choose to not go the diversion route then the board will still make you enter a monitoring program. From my knowledge the Enforcement Monitoring is exactly the same as the Diversion Monitoring Program with one exception. And that is that everything will be public on Nursys for the rest of your life.

Does Benadryl cause positive for Affinity?
Yeah, my results came back on Friday as "positive.' I spent all night Friday and all day Saturday going over everything I have eaten and drank and trying not to have a panic attack LOL. The only things I can think of is the benadryl and maybe the sleepy time tea I drink before bed. It says in the ingredients it has "natural vanilla flavoring" which is supposed to be different than extract but now I'm not so sure.

Does Benadryl cause positive for Affinity?
Hi all, I recently started monitoring and I had my first test earlier this week. In my contract it states (and I verified it with my case manager) that I can have Benadryl but that they will monitor the levels. My case manager stated that as long as I do not take more than is recommended then I will be fine. I know in other states that Benadryl is strictly prohibited unless you have a prescription so I guess my question is will Affinity automatically mark a test as positive if Benadryl shows up? I have messaged my case manager but I don't expect a reply until Monday at the earliest. I have tried to be extremely careful the last couple of weeks with what I eat and drink but this is all so new I'm scared I slipped up and don't know it. Edit: And also- the test says 'SVT- normal.' What does that mean?

Finding a job while on probation
I just entered entered into my contract. I have a full year left until my narcotic restrictions are lifted. I also have other restrictions such as the need to have a supervisor, I'm not allowed to be a preceptor, and I'm not allowed to work in certain settings. I applied for dialysis but they turned me down because they have a high turn over rate and I would need to be able to become preceptor at some point and I would end up being in the building without a supervisor. The other positions I've applied for turned me down due to the narcotic restrictions. It's been a month so far but I'm still hopeful! I'm in arkansas.

Finding a job while on probation
It's not a criminal probation, its probation with the BON. I've found a few places that are OK with the mark on my license but it's been hard to find one that will work with all my stipulations. I'm still looking but I'm getting worried that I won't be able to find something until the narcotic stipulation is lifted. It's going to be a long year.

Perfume
I've heard it can but I don't know for sure. I think most perfume has an alcohol base. I gave all my bath and body stuff to my daughter. I know their lavendar pillow spray has alcohol as a main ingredient. I've been under monitoring for a week now a d I'm still trying to figure out what I can and cant use/eat. What kind of perfume do you use?

How to ace/land interviews while on probation?
I wish I could! I haven't landed a job since my probation and I've only managed to get one call back. But I'm hopeful that my time is coming! I don't know your story but I imagine that your time is coming too! I've read through this forum and have gathered the following advice from others, I hope it helps some and keeps you from having to read through 100s of pages LOL. Be upfront and honest about your situation. Some say to tell the interviewer early and get it out of the way and some say wait until the end after you've gotten them to like you. I honestly have no clue which one works the best. They say to sell yourself and your strengths and skills. Spin your monitoring as a good thing. As in you are more dedicated, you won't be late or call off to often, and you won't cause drama bc the board is on you. My personal advice (not what I've read on this forum) just follows normal interviewing advice. Arrive early, wear something nice and professional, turn off your phone. If you have really bad anxiety like I do then be mindful of your body language. don't cross your arms, smile often, don't chew your nails (horrible habit I know! I only do when I'm super stressed). And the best advice of all: just breathe. It's just an interview. Good luck!

What job can I do on probation?
Did you ever find a job? I'm in the same situation right now with the same stipulations. I also struck out with dialysis and now I'm a little scared of not finding a job. I just feel very lost right now.
-
Now what
Did you get the job? I'm just curious. I was also disciplined and just started my probation with stipulations and it's been very difficult finding a job. I just got turned down from dialysis which I hear are usually probation friendly. It so very disheartening.

How to ace/land interviews while on probation?
Does anyone have any tips for landing/nailing an interview while on probation/monitoring? What did you guys say or do that you felt was beneficial? How did you disclose that you were on monitoring or that you had stipulations to your new bosses? And besides that, how open were you about your recovery to your coworkers?

Any tips with Ar probation/monitoring?
Hi all!! So my story- I self reported in Oct 2021 for diversion. I was terminated from my job and they also reported me to the board. I haven't worked as a nurse since then. I took my time, went to treatment and into recovery. Now, a year later, I have done my psych eval and signed my consent agreement and am officially on probation and monitoring. I am currently looking for a job. I'm nervous about the next four years as well as finding employment in my location. If anyone has any experience or tips they can give I would be soooooo grateful!! I haven't ever felt so alone in my profession as I do now! I currently reside in Ar.

Finding a job while on probation
Thanks for responding! Naturally I'm quite nervous about applying for jobs. I keep seeing and hearing people talk about probation as being a "black mark" on their license and not being able to find a job while people strictly on monitoring seem to have all these options. I just want to know what I'm getting into really. How hard it going to be, the road blocks I'm going to run into.

Finding a job while on probation
Hi all! I was recently put on probation for self reported diversion. I will be working with stipulations and under monitoring for the next 4 years. I know there are jobs out there that are monitoring friendly, but is that the same as being probation friendly?
