  1. I am in a similar situation, but in homecare peds and infusion visiting nurse. Would you recommend I get my PALS /ACLS, then take a CCRN review course without the med/surg experience?
  2. I applied to Simmons almost 3 weeks ago. I reached out to my counselor for feedback and she said no word yet but have the deposit ready just in case. I am trying, with everything in me, to be patient. This waiting is hard. Love the support from all of you during the wait. Nice to know we are here for each other.
  3. I have the same concerns. In order to find a job, I am moving to NC in 6 months. I don't know where to start, but I know this is the right move for me and my family.
  4. I am in the same boat, but I have been away for about 5 years. I have a few questions, if you don't mind. How long was your refresher course? Did you take the course for your own confidence level or do you think you needed it to make yourself more marketable? I am two weeks from signing up for a 3 week course myself. Thanks, in advance, for your response.
  5. What state are you in? I have been trying to find an refresher course in NY and NJ and no one is getting back to me. Thanks
  6. It has been 5 years since I graduated from nursing school. In that time, I haven't practiced nursing due to various reasons stemming from health problems to financial hardship (who hasn't suffered from this, right)? I have been working in the financial industry. In any event, I am having a hard time finding employment in nursing. Would it be advised for me to take a refresher course? Keep in mind I passed the NCLEX and took a BLSC within the last two months. I ask because these courses are quite pricey and I don't want to waste my money if taking a course really would not help. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the suggestions. I have a follow up question for anyone who can help. It has been 5 years since I graduated from nursing school. In that time, I haven't practiced nursing due to various reasons stemming from health problems to financial hardship (who hasn't suffered from this, right)? In any event, I am having a hard time finding employment in nursing. Would it be advised for me to take a refresher course? Keep in mind I passed the NCLEX and took a BLSC within the last two months. 8. I am interested in moving to Albany NY. Do you know if they are hiring new grads?
  9. Have you tried the "Men in Nursing" forum on this site? I think it may help a bit. Good Luck
  10. I wear a fanny pack. It's very handy but can get in the way at times when trying to squeeze into tight spots. I love it, though, everything's in one place.
  11. I called the NY BON and the lady said no. You can volunteer the info if you like but employers cannot access it on their own.
  12. :coollook:Can new potential employers find out the number of times a candidate has taken the NCLEX?
  13. I passed!!! This is the best Friday the 13th ever. I can add RN to my title and mean it. Please know prayer works, but faith without works is dead. Continue to study hard and stay in faith.
  14. Many on this site have had success with the Saunder's book. I have not. Saunder's is a wonderful companion to nursing school, but I found that is was just too much info to get through for the NCLEX. Also, I think the Saunder's questions are not comparable to the NCLEX. Saunder's questions are incredibly watered down and simplified. I was scoring no lower than 70% and even 100% in some sections and I still failed the NCLEX. Suffice it to say, I have signed up for Kaplan.
  15. Congratsto AllSmiles225 :cheers::icon_hug::smiley_aa:anpom:
  16. I've changed my date to 5/29. I am so excited. I have never felt this confident before (I have taken this exam 4x before). I have claimed 2009 as my year to pass the exam. Good luck all. Stay confident, positive and prayerful.
  17. I will be taking my Boards on May 15th. After reading this thread I feel confident and very supported. Thank you for taking the time to allaying all of our fears with your words of wisdom and cyber hand holding. With God and diligent studying I will pass (this time).
