  1. when I was new to l&d I called the md in because we were about 8cm w/a bbow..md delivered a breech boy!! needless to say, that was not a bbow!! It was pretty funny, doc had a sense of humor and it was a nice delivery; that was back it the day when they were more willing to deliver a breech.
  2. As someone who has fallen off my Danskos twice, I switched to Merrell's "Primo Breeze" they are slip ons that you can run in, are comfy from day one and even I can't fall off of!!
  3. No, he really is just in it for the buck!! I watched his infomercial, thought he was really on to something, bought the book. He covers many things, things that most of us have already learned by middle age, and he gives you a tease, and then directs you to his website for more information and then -big surprise- to view the information there is a fee. Pretty funny with all the self-righteous finger pointing he does at big business claiming that they are money hungry. It was very disappointing. Thanks for letting me vent!
  4. I think she was responding to when you said soy formula wouldn't be on the market if it were unsafe. I had also responded to that statement, as we all know how many unsafe products are on the market, cigarettes etc....
  5. I would love more info on this topic. I am allergic to milk products and what I found out first by suffering, then by research, is that if you are allergic to milk products it is highly likely that you will be allergic to soy as well. Sad isn't it!! I was so excited to have all these new soy products and they actually hurt my gut more than milk. I just want to address the post that stated "if it weren't safe it wouldn't be on the market", if only that were true, aside from cigarettes, there have been many drugs pulled from the market-celebrex for one. Many things make it into the hands of us trusting consumers that are unsafe. I just want to know why after all these years, can't they make a formula that tastes good for these poor little guys???
  6. with checking DTR's in preclampsia, aren't we also checking for MgSo4 tox as they lose their reflexes as the mag level increases (to a toxic level)
  7. Did somebody say breaks??!! LOL
  8. choked me up too, beautifully said.

I agree with you, I too have suffered with management that had no experience in OB (how hard could it be, all we do is cuddle babies all day, lol) It would be disappointing to have a manager who was just using us for management experience and not commited, I would not feel compelled to offer my support to him/her.
  10. I'm uncertain what you are trying to say Marie, but since you keep posting to correct me on this thread; would you care to offer an opinion, belief or experience on the topic of pts refusing a c/s?
  11. Deirdre replied to jen42's topic in Correctional
are the inmates allowed access to computers? I know they can receive an education in prison but do they keep them off line?
  12. Actually it seems to be about our opinions, beliefs and experience..or why post a "discussion" thread????
  13. thanks for that info-i was not referring to a termination for a legitimate reason although i do not believe that Downs is justification to terminate. But this thread is not about abortion, it is about refusing a c/s.
  14. I would love to hear more opinions or better still facts on this thread! If a pt came in stoned or drunk cps would get involved. If she were assaulted by her boyfriend and the baby died as a result he would be charged with murder(seen it) It is also illegal to murder your baby by abortion after 20 weeks. So how could it possibly be ok to refuse a c/s when the baby is dying????
  15. Deirdre replied to Rohan's topic in Ob/Gyn
Thanks Deb, looking forward to it, what about info on pitting multiples?
  16. Deirdre replied to Rohan's topic in Ob/Gyn
Please post the specifics, also what is your policy for pitting multiple gestation? Thanks, Deirdre

I just relocated to a small hospital with a low census in central ny from a moderate size hospital in central ca and the difference in practice is mind boggling..at this little hospital they send pt's home after cytotec! (I really don't like cytotec, i much prefer cervidil, you can remove it!)I am completely uncomfortable with sending them home, been around too long and seen too many bad things...
  18. The other night at work I had a conflict with 2 new ob's over the term hyperstim, they stated that it was only hyperstim if the fh became nonreassuring, that what i was calling hyperstim was in fact tachysystole. I went on line and did find literature on tachysystole. I asked another practioner and she had never heard the term either. is this to be our new lingo??? Feedback Please!!!
  19. I am at a loss for words after reading this! I have been doing ob since 88 and thought I could not be shocked..I was wrong.

Hi, I never had a real issue with station, the kid was either high, low, i was taught that the wide part of the head at the spines is 0 station, so, you could have caput well applied to the cervix and be -2 and have no risk of prolapse, i do, however take issue with practitioners that can't keep their hands out of the lady parts and arom too early (which is approx 98% of them). I would love to know how others determine station.
