U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN) - 2026
Hello! Looking to apply for the next cohort. Currently a new 66S on the reserve side and have 7 years of ICU civilian experience. How does the process go for reservists? Going to be reaching out to my AMEDD recruiter soon, but just wanted some insight first!

FY2020 Army Nurse Corps
Hello there Nurse_Boo, I saw that it took about two years to receive your orders? Wow, that really is the epitome of hurry up and wait!! Is that pretty typical or were there other factors that caused it to take that long? I just got selected for February boards and awaiting scroll release and security clearance. How long did it take for those things to go through for you if you don't mind sharing? Thank you!

FY2020 Army Nurse Corps
Congrats man! I know this thread it old but I am happy to announce I was finally selected and waivers have been approved after applying for the past 4 years for a 66S position. As you mention above, it's been a long process with many doubts and many emotions. I just need to wait for my scroll to be released and for security clearance. I know that's another couple months of waiting but I feel like I'm close to the finish line aka signing that contract and taking my oath. I wish everyone the best and don't give up if this is really what you want to do!!

I got on OML for STRAP this past fiscal year so planning to reapply in the fall. Wasn't sure if I had a better chance at 66S due to more slots, but then I would have to attend drill unless there's a way around that while in school full time? I think I will try for STRAP again this fall though, just makes more sense for my situation.

What kind of stuff you waiting on? I been on OML since then and haven't heard anything back. I contacted them a couple weeks ago and basically they don't know anything at all besides Im on the OML. Not even sure how many total slots are open for STRAP but I will try again in the fall if I don't get selected to come off the OML. But if its this much of headache I may look into 66S as well!!

Has anyone dropped out of a PhD program (or contemplated it)?
I think the person who commented before me has some great advice! But, if your needs and desires aren't being fulfilled and you don't think you will be truly happy with the end result then drop out. I started a DNP-FNP program and was 3 semesters in before I dropped out. I couldn't see myself in that role for the rest of my career. Yes, I was burnt out from finishing my Masters, but if would have kept going, I would have been more burnt out and not happy with it in the long run. I guess I did it because it was an easy transition from my Masters and some of friends from that program proceeded with it. I took a couple years of from school and enjoyed working bedside in the ICU- just learning and gaining experience. Now, I am in my 3rd semester of CRNA school and I am glad I dropped out. This is definitely a lot harder than FNP school, but I am enjoying the challenge and being able to draw upon my ICU experience to help me think critically makes it worth it. SO, bottom line, do what is best for you and not worry about meeting anyone's Expectations but your own. Or go part-time if you just need a little break from academics and re-charge. School will always be there, so take of yourself- mentally and physically.

They did mention that they want to get everything done by October, but I need to do MEPS again so I hope that doesn't hold me up. It would be great to know before Christmas though! and yes, they give you the worst example for resume, CV, etc. Luckily, they have most of my stuff from my packet from two years ago so that should balance out me doing MEPS and getting a waiver for some health history.

Hello, I am in my second semester of CRNA school. I think the 66S route is very appealing but keep in mind if your spare time (after studying and classwork) and your ability to be able to fulfill the commitments of the Army, even if on Reserve. First semester was kind of brutal for us and this semester seems more chill, but once clinicals begin it’s a lot of time and energy committed to that. Just my two cents! Good luck with whatever you choose, I think you will have a good chance with being prior service and in school.

FY 2021 Army Nurse Corps
Not sure if anyone here would know, but basically I applied for 66S on the Reserve side for FY2020 and was selected by the board, but ultimately was not able to commission due to a waiver that was not approved. Am I allowed to apply again for FY 2021 or 2022? I am talking to a recruiter who hasn't gotten back to me with a clear answer on anything or what we are waiting on. Like we haven't even started doing the background checks, fingerprints, etc. Last time we got things going quicker. I know things go slow but I don't have a good feeling already.

UW Oshkosh CRNA Program 2021
One of the program assistants emailed me back and stated: “Thank you for following up! We will be sending letters out to candidates this week. Good luck!” So at least we know it will be this week. But still a waiting game nonetheless. Good luck everyone!

UW Oshkosh CRNA Program 2021
I talked to someone else who applied and interviewed on Thursday- two weeks ago and she hasn't heard anything. Also have been scouring FB and on here for any info or a rough timeline of when to hear back. So far, haven't heard of anyone receiving anything. I am almost tempted to email the program assistant just to ask when to expect to hear something. But I think you're, right. Today probably won't be the day for anything which is a bummer. Like most of us, I am on edge and been a little anxious just to find out yes or no. HOPEFULLY by Monday I guess..
