  1. being retired many years this paom brought back memories
  2. after a cousin died of polio and seeing patients with shingles and other assorted diseases which could have been prevented with an injection I and my children had all of their shots and no ill effects
  3. the skilled facility I worked at had an area for the staff who smoked to go to sometimes a patient would join them it was far enough from the building as not to get smoke in
  4. so this CNA is receiving the same pay as the other CNAs on unit yet she doesn't do the same work..what a bunch of bullAt least they should rotate the CNAs so they all have a chance to do ralyy nothing and get paid for it I wonder how this CNA feels and how do the others feel about seeing her sit and do nothing
  5. one question is the sitter a CNA or just a person hired to sit with the patient while she smokes
  6. who's paying for thr sitter? the hospital? or family?
  7. I have been getting the flu shot for many years and now the shingles vaccine working in a skilled facility we were told by the staff developer we needed to protect our self family and residents,,,,,,,If you ever saw a patient with shingles I can bet you would run fast and get your shots Now at 82 I still get all the necessary shots
  8. all the sitter we have used in the skilled facility was there for the perpose of keeping the patient safe from falls getting out of bed and trying to leave facility I know some family paid for a sitter more like a companion
  9. maybe get the Dr to write no smoking order to see if will lower her blood pressure doesn't the hospital have a policy regarding sitters
  10. can I interject something as a patient,,,,I am 82 had a fall resulting in bruised ribs and Fx elbow I was in a lot of pain requested pain med and waited and waited as far as my meds went(being a retired nurse) the alloted time is hour before hour after I was due meds at 10am and didn't get them till after 12:30pm Was told the nurse went downstairs to p/u medication but.this hospital uses a system where the meds are sent to floor by tube.Another thing and I blame the hospital I received NO personal care nor was I offered a pan of water to wash a tooth brush/toothpaste for oral care. The linens are changed weekely. I worked in a skilled nursing unit where beds were changed daily bedbath motified daily I just hope I never need to go to this hospital again and if so on a different floor with real nurses who care.thank you for letting me vent so you might see the other side
