  1. Be confident about being in IPN. Sell it as an advantage to being held to a higher standard and own your mistakes If they ask. When they ask about you having questions; say “IM not sure if you are familiar with the program for nurses called IPN... It is basically a monitoring program for nurses that I’m involved in that holds me to a higher standard. I have a case manager that I speak to occasionally and may want to speak to you before I accept the position. All it would require from you (or the manager) is filling out an evaluation every 3 months to say how well I’m doing.’ don’t say anything negative about the program or get into more details then needed unless they ask
  2. Wow I am so so sorry I give you MAJOR props for sticking through this journey of hell. 5 years is INSANE for mental health they should be trying to help you not stress you to death. The reason I’m in is necessary. I was diverting. It was bound to happen eventually. The money and appointments is KILLING me though. Between drug tests, Vivitrol Apts, psych appointments, nursing groups, meetings, the MONEY I am beyond stressed
  3. Excuse my language but HOLY SH*T that is so expensive on top of everything else!!! Ugh I’m so sorry. Do you mind me asking your DOC or reason for being in the program? I started 7/5/19 and have had 2-3 urines a month and 3 freaking blood tests already. No hair yet expect on my evaluation. Do you remember how soon after signing your contract your first hair test was? This is all so expensive it’s insane. Between drug tests, support groups, Vivitrol shot apts (I have to get even though I still have the narc restriction) I’m drowning.
  4. Florida IPN nurses: how many of you have or have not been hair tested? if so how much was it and how often
  5. Just looking back at this and thought I’d tell you guys I ended up getting the job!:) been working over a month and I couldn’t be happier.
  6. I would also wait and see what happens. It sounds like it’ll get a lot messier and they’ll make you go to inpatient. I would not admit it
  7. Stay strong. You definitely will not have to settle. Just don’t give up! Once I got into my monitoring program I started apply at 5-10 jobs daily. I interviewed at many places and did get turned down at many. I have my past of stealing large amounts of narcotics on my license forever. I kept trying and I had HR call me from a job I REALLY wanted. She said she saw what was on my record but wanted me to explain. I told the truth which was so hard I expected complete silence but she called me the next day that I got the job and I’m in love with it it’s betterthan my last job. My advice: be honest from the start! Everyone makes mistakes. The right job will see you for your skills and commitment not your past. Best of luck
  8. I’ve been at my job like 3 weeks now and my IPN CM has already spoke wth my supervisor. I just got an email on affinity asking for releases for the other 2 physicians/ARNP’s in my office... is that normal? It was embarrassing enough them talking to my supervisor I’d hate to have to tell the doctor and NP to be expecting a call as well
  9. Can i ask what ended up happening with this situation?!
  10. Ugh I hope they approve it. My ‘practice manager’ or direct supervisor isn’t an RN. The doctor and NP are, but pretty sure they won’t be there all the time. It is located in the medical arts building of a hospital where there are tons of RNs but I don’t believe directly in the office. It took me 3 weeks to even get cleared for hire in this position and many other turn downs in interviews. I’m at the point of giving up if they turn this down. Thank you! I have submitted the job description. Just have to have them call my supervisor (not an RN). Do you know where the face to face check ins take place?
  11. I got offered a position at an outpatient surgery center (pre/post op). I would be educating patients, going over test results, doing triage phone calls etc. The doctor and NP would be there 2 days a week when seeing patients. The rest of the week it would just be me and the receptionist and I’d be answering calls and doing paper work. Do you think IPN would expect this? It says under direct supervision and I would be when their are patients there but not at all times. Any advice! It was so hard for me to land this position I really would be devastated if I couldn’t because of this ?
  12. I’ve been in my contract for almost 2 months and had many interviews. I accepted a position at a new doctors office and have been going through the hiring process. I told them of my IPN status. I did not give them all the gory details (that I was diverting). It’s been 2 weeks since my background check (normally takes 5 business days. And HR said I am ‘still not cleared for hire’. I have a feeling it’s because the discipline and details are on my license and my license status states ‘obligations/active’. I feel like I’m never going to get a job with it all plastered on my license. Any one else have any luck getting a job w/discipline on license and how did you go about it?
  13. I am on vivitrol and still have the restriction ? I will ask
  14. I know it’s ridiculous and I’m getting clarification because th contract I signed read ‘approved clinical’ in bold as long as I’m supervised and a 12 month narc restriction. Nothing that I signed says anything about not being able to have direct contact w patients. I’m waiting for a email back from my CM. I just got a new case manager and when I called to get approval for a job she said the only reason it says clinical is because if they put non clinical I wouldn’t even be able to be a case manager or review charts because I’m somewhat making decisions for patients. I’m waiting to hear back because like I said that’s not what I signed and I’m so frustrated! I’m still in IOP so my therapist is trying to help me fix it as well ??
  15. Need advice on finding a non clinical nursing job in Tampa Florida. My contract says approved for Clinical so the past few weeks I’ve been applying for clinical nursing jobs. Well I got an offer even after disclosing IPN and my restrictions. I called IPN to get approval and she told me even though my contract says that I am only allowed non clinical like case management and utilization review etc. Every job I find has non clinical requires experience in those things which I don’t have I only have non clinical... any ideas or options?
  16. Thank you so much that was very helpful, I will keep all of that in mind! My interview today went very well for the outpatient surgery center (I would barely be passing meds besides antibiotics occasionally) but I was too nervous to mention my IPN involvement. I have a second interview Monday with the doctor I’d be working aside... not sure if I should mention it to him or if I’ll have a third interview with the manager? Not sure but I’m thinking I’m going to wait until I basically have the offer in hand. Im not getting my hopes up so I don’t get let down but I also won’t give up going to keep pushing I’ve made it this far. And like you said I know the job that’s meant for me won’t judge based off my past
  17. I recently got my 5 year contract for IPN. I have a 1 year narcotic restriction but I really need to begin working I’ve applied just about everywhere. I have one job interview today at a surgery center where I’d be the only nurse working with an MD and NP. I don’t have high hopes about getting this job once I break the news being that I’d be the only nurse and I’m sure they’ll need me to pass narcs. I also have another interview tmrw at a HCA hospital on a PCU. I really want this job but have a feeling they won’t want to work around my narcotic block either. I’m sooo nervous and don’t know how to go about this and even though I’m going to go, I feel like it’s jut going to get my hopes down if I get turned down. Any advice or experience with interviewing with a narcotic restriction would be great!
