  1. oldernursingstudent, i am very happy for you, congratulations!
  2. http://www.learningtext.com it helped me so much, at least the fact that i passed with the minimum number of questions after using it leads me to believe it helped!
  3. oldernursingstudent.. i hope you passed, just take some deep breaths and take care, hang in there.
  4. i passed.. i got my results (posted online @bon) within 24 hours. goodluck everyone!
  5. board of nursing website had my license number listed :) GOOD LUCK! I took it yesterday.
  6. I passed! Thank you to everyone for the thoughts and words of wisdom.
  7. Ditto. Today. 85. :yeahthat:
  8. Just... good luck. The hardest part will probably be time management (it is for me). Just be willing to learn and it will hopefully all come together. Being nervous isn't always a bad thing, by the way. I would be worried if you weren't at least a little nervous.
  9. thank you oldernursingstudent. i wanted more too!
  10. Took mine today. Shut off at 85, I am FREAKING OUT needless to say. *sigh*
  11. Thanks so much for the encouragment, I'm so nervous and the days just keep passing by. Everyone I work with keeps asking me when I take the boards.
  12. when you first did the tests on there how did you score? i took them all and scored mostly in the 60s and it really scared me. I have since retaken many of them and gotten between 85-100%. Just wondering how your situation compared. thanks!
  13. that's great to hear. how long did you study with it? i take my nclex on the 28th and have been using ncsbn online.

I guessed on so many questions and still passed with a high score so keep an open mind! Which DTCC do you attend? I went to Owens.

Definitely possible to pass. I had a study guide for the exam and hardly used it and passed pretty easily. Focus on English, Math and Science basically. Pick up a study guide at the bookstore and set a date to take the test! Get it over with :)
  16. I am a new grad and will be working on a medsurg floor starting this week. As with Vman, here in Delaware it's not within the scope of practice to have LPN's do new admit assessments. (at least where I work) ChronicNurse gave very good advice. Good luck to you.
  17. we did it on dummies but not everyone got a chance to do it in the clinical setting. i do agree with you though.
  18. Tweety- I already got set up with a preceptor. She is a wonderful nurse with tons of experience... although, recently while working as a tech I overheard her mention how she doesn't enjoy precepting... AND someone told me that she recently made a new LPN cry a few times because of wanting to just get the job done and not focus on letting her know what was going on.
  19. Jasano- all i can say is THANKYOU!
  20. I remember taking the NLN. I didn't study at all for it :/ I did although have a review book that I purchased in case I ever got around to studying. It has all kinds of stuff on the exam.. and I would encourage you to buy a review book. Google it and I'm sure you can find out what you need to brush up on. I can tell you it has English - Math and Science on it.
  21. Well I take it tomorrow and the nursing educator put me at ease by telling me I can use a calculator and they supply us with med books so that's awesome. What more could I need :)
  22. Thank you for clarifying that for me TheCommuter. It is a shame the way the programs (some at least) are run.. like someone else stated in another post somewhere - they teach so much about CARING but not enough about skill. Anyway, I talked to another nurse at orientation today who just got her LPN license and she is in the same boat as me.. only she is working in ER not Medsurg.
  23. Good luck, I hope you passed. Let us know! I take my NCLEX-PN on Feb. 28th!
  24. Thank you everyone for all the replies! It means a lot. I am a GPN now and I take my NCLEX in Feb. but I have a job on MedSurg floor and I start nursing orientation tomorrow. I have the med test and all the other training first. Next week I am on the floor (with my preceptor). I'm very scared. You are right when you say they teach all about how to be CARING and not exactly enough focus with the actual procedures. I had to get checked off on procedures but only on dummies. If they came up in clinical we did them but it just wasn't the way it should have been IMO.
