Help for Paper
Hi gals and guys...I am currently having to write a paper on the profession that I intend to go into for my English class. No big deal, but today my prof through a twist to it if wanted to we could write about different classifications in the same profession...ie ER, L&d, PICU ect. And now I'm thinking about redoing my paper...beings I haven't totally decided what field I want to go into...if any one of you is willing...could you please respond with the field that your in, some of your daily tasks, what you find most rewarding about your job, and what are the things that you despise about your job (be specific, not just "staffing issues", b/c all nurses seem to have this problem. It could be a personal issue that you deal with at nursing....eg hating to watch as a doc does a spinal tap on a 6mo child, b/c it makes you cringe...things like that... Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance for all your help... Carrie

Greetings to all....I was dreading going to class today b/c we had a test on Tuesday and I knew I wasn't as prepared today as what I should have been. So get to class take our quiz, and he starts handing back grades. I'm #16 in the list...so everyone goes up...my friend who is #5 he said don't even bother to get up you got a 98. The other girl on my right who's #11 didn't get up and she got a 109. (Possible is a 112, we had extra credit)...And then my name..."don't get up, you got over 100" :roll WHAT?!??? I think you have the wrong person, I swear I didn't know the first 20 questions. But I guess I did...which in the long run really makes me wonder...here I know I don't know what I'm talking about, and then in reality I do??? confusing thoughts....but Anyways I got a 104, so I'm not complaining about it... Next lab is our 1st lab test next Thursday. This was our 2nd exam....and then we have all of our little quizzes everyday which will be used to replace the lowest grade of test 1 or 2, which i have 2 high A's so my quizzes are almost pointless so to speak...but oh well, I will continue to study hard....and the other highlight of my day was I got my 1st English paper back...got an A as well... YIPPEE beings I'm horrible in English

Miranda... I go to SAC and am taking Prof. Torres...and absolutely love him.. There's a lot of memorization, but he gives you everything you need to know and tells you what he's looking for. A couple of my other friends are taking Hansen (sp) and are enjoying him as well. Fardel is hard but I've been told is quite good....just my thoughts though. -- Carrie

well tomorrow is my first real test...we've had 2 quizzes and i've done great on those. I'm not to worried, but there's always that little bit of fear. Our test is over Ch 1 & 2 and our profs notes that he makes for us....off to the bookstore to go study...I just seem to tempted to do other things if i stay at home.....usually it's not a problem...but I guess it's b/c I'm not feeling very good

hmmm.... i'm beginning to think that
On a personal note, as being a patient i can attest to what you are all talking about. About 1.5 years ago, I go into the ER for extreme pain on my right side, and into my back. I have great insurance, and had been to this hospital about 3 months ago for a out patient operation, and paid them in full when I was discharged. I walked in the door (that did not open even though it was an automatic door) and "checked -in" this was at about 3:15 pm. I sat for a while, stood for a while, went back after about 2 hours of waiting and asked how much longer...was told only about another hour (mind you this entire time I could not stand up striaght) I WAS FINALLY SEEN BY SOMEONE AT MIDNIGHT... when i walked through the hallway i saw one room that was just stuffed with equiment and signs that said "does not work, do not use, out of order"....made me kind of wonder???? continued to wait, did blood work and finally went to have a sonagram done on my side (suspected GB problems) and when I got there..I thought the tech was going to kill the machine because the screen was screwing up, and there was tape on the cord....and this was a newly renovated hospital....was admitted w/ a perferated GB at a little after 2. My "room" was amazing...nice new tv...wonderful comfy bed (for a hospital) new tile in the bathroom and fresh paint in the rooms....I feel your pain on this one ladies...and I was only the patient.... when i was in the ER i wondered how many other rooms were stuffed with broken things that made the rooms unuseable.....

I went with Torres, a spot in his class came open and I jumped on it. He's the director of the Biology learning lab....hilarious guy Hard????? he pretty much gives you what you need to know...there was a girl in there who had him last semester who had to drop b/c of family problems and said he was amazing...i heard bad things about my previous...that he jumped around a lot, doesn't provide notes, doesn't really lecuture out of the book ect....after the first day i'm really pleased w/ this guy....a friend of mine is in fardel's, so i'll wait and see what she says....and I'll keep you updated

Okay everyone...i just walked in the door and I came straight to the computer to tell you about my absolutely AWESOME/AMAZAING/WONDERFUL proffessor. He's from Puerto Rico, an older gentleman...loves the computer and is the director of the Biology Study Lab. He reminds me of Speedy Gonzales from the cartoons...he's very animated and very comical...he wants us to learn and have fun and not be so stressed that we hate his class. He is lecture based, dry lab, and wet lab....dry lab is just to the bio study lab and working on the computer....like I said earlier he loves computers therefore makes programs for us to learn with...pretty neat...we already experience one today...not bad at all.... His grading system is probably one of the best I've every seen...it is as follows : 4 tests 1 final 3 lab tests 12 quizzes. there will be essays on all tests which are all extra credit...if you make a 85 on the test and answer 2 essays that are worth 5 each your test grad is now a 95. if the average of the 12 quizzes is better than one of your tests, then your quiz average replaces that test. if on the final you make between a 80-89 he will drop the lowest test grade out of the 4, if you make a 90-100 on the final he will drop your 2 lowest test grades. if you have a 89 as your final grade and only have missed no more than 2 classes and you have participated in clas and have not been tardy, he will give you the A. the other way to get 10 points extra credit is to donate plasma, or volunteer for 6 hours at a local kids/teenage study place that we have here... I wan really impressed with him....although he talks fast and w/ a little bit of an accent...i do have the upper hand beings my husband is from Mexico and has the same tendencies to talk fast and w/ a very small accent...so needless to say love the guy. My other profs seemed really awesome as well..... Here's to a great start in the new semester.....hope everyone elses day was good....
