  1. On August 12 I got an email saying my application got forwarded to a hiring manager but nothing before or since then.
  2. I've got 50+ applications submitted to Sutter Health in their Bay Area hospitals for Staff Nurse 1/New grad positions, some of which are over 30 days old at this point (all say "Application has been received and is under review). I feel like my resume is quite strong with 20+ years of other career experience and I have a BSN from a highly ranked public school but it's out of state and my address is still out of state. So far I've gotten about 20 form rejections directly from HR without any advancement to a unit hiring manager. I've also gotten rejected by Kaiser and CommonSpirit for their residency programs. I'm just wondering if HR checks or uses an applicant's address to filter out applications (or if that's even allowable)? I can't think of any other reason why I'm getting auto-rejected by HR. I feel like I've hit the buzz words in my resume for the ATS software. I'm just wondering if I should go about finding a Bay Area address to put down in my application or if that will create problems with application mailings and stuff like that if I make it further through the application process.
  3. I noticed Staff Nurse I positions at Sutter Health positions in California say less than 1 year experience. I'm a new grad without ANY healthcare experience. Am I wasting 2 minutes of my time submitting my application to the much more numerous entry level Staff Nurse 1 but not new grad positions at Sutter or other health care facilities? I saw a message board post saying that Sutter would already have a candidate in mind when they posted single opening positions for new grads on their jobs website so I'm unsure if I'm chasing after a job that doesn't actually exist. Maybe going after the more numerous Staff Nurse 1 positions is a better and more fruitful endeavor?
  4. Oh nevermind further down it says relevant department certifications so I'm guessing it may just be a requirement after you get hired into a specific unit.
  5. Does anyone actually have an ACLS certification like it says is required in the application? I can understand BLS, but a several hundred dollar advanced course for a new grad nurse seems excessive as a prerequisite to apply.
  6. I'm hoping to apply for the November 2023 cohort and I am wondering if any of you July cohort applicants were not BLS or ACLS certified? In the application checklist it says they are recommended but not required. My BLS has expired since graduating and I'm wondering if I should renew it before I apply or possibly even do my ACLS. However, if people got offers without being certified or if the VA will offer/pay for the training I'd prefer to hold off.
  7. I don't think so? https://www.pleasantonweekly.com/news/2022/04/10/thousands-of-stanford-and-packard-nurses-vote-to-authorize-strike This says Valleycare nurses aren't covered under the recent CBA. I saw something from April 2020 saying Valleycare nurses just ratified a CBA through the CNA but they don't seem to provide links on their website. https://www.nationalnursesunited.org/press/stanford-valleycare-nurses-ratify-new-contract-overwhelming-majority
  8. Does anyone have a link to their current nursing collective bargaining agreement?
  9. What are the uniform requirements for clinicals? I found a sale on white work shoes/sneakers in my size and was debating getting them but unsure if there is a color requirement or other requirement.
  10. OK thanks. That's a bit of a bummer but oh well. I tried calling but the financial aid office appears to be closed and it goes to voicemail or asking to say the last name of the voicemailbox you want to reach. I guess I'm just going to submit the deposit and hope for the best as far as aid.
  11. Do we have to accept our offer before we know what our financial aid package is? Has anyone who got bumped into the class from the waitlist heard anything about financial aid either before they accepted and paid the down payment or after they accepted/paid?
  12. CONGRATS JUUL! I missed a call a little bit ago from a Baltimore area code that I was wondering if it was from UMSON but just got an email acceptance asking to call to discuss next steps. I'll call once I'm done my class lecture. My application still says committee review.
  13. Students who have gotten accepted/provisionally accepted: is a deposit due when you accept within the 14 days of your acceptance email (or letter)? If so, how much is it? I'm trying to be as prepared as possible in case I get bumped into the provisionally accepted pile from the waitlist. Thanks and CONGRATS on your acceptance!
  14. True. But now I feel like I'll be anxious for months until I get an offer or denial. When someone gets an acceptance letter please let us know when your decision is due and/or when your deposit is due - thanks!
