oh wow, they require 40hrs shadowing now? it's getting more and more competitive. Last year there were 400ish applications, they interview 100, they picked 30, waiting list 10.

One semester behind is okie. Don't think too much. Just come back , then graduate , and pass NCLEX, and work. Life moves on ! When I started my nursing school- there were 30 students in our cohort- just 6 ppl, including me - never failed any classes- Too many ppl had to repeat 1 semester. But they still graduated, they never gave up... Again, don't think too much. It is what it is .. When you pass NCLEX, you will look at and just smile.. because you are glad you did not give up … 3-4 months is nothing compared to 2-4 years you've been working hard. Good luck! You've made this far. Don't you ever give up. Learn from your mistake, but don't let it become your obstacle forever. I believe your family/gf will always support you as always.

I just do not understand how a program accepts people with just 1 year icu experience ... by the time the school starts ?!?!?! for real ! by the time the school starts. smh*

Not all ICUs (Smaller hospitals) are competitve. Not all applicants get in CRNA school for his/her first time applying. so, 1-2 years on the floors, 2-3 years in ICU (big hospitals), 3 years in CRNA shcool. But first things first, Pass your NCLEX, and take GRE, take CCRN (after at least 1 year in ICU), retake your science classes (if having any C's, B's) , and/or take advanced science classes and pass it with A's, then going from there! Some programs require Chemistry (not introduction), so you will send at least 2 semester to take Chem/Physics. "I Want To Be An Anesthesiologist". I assume you want to be MDA. Then, get your BSN, take MCAT, apply to Med school, Fishish the residency. "My Plan Was To Become An CRNA For Awhile Then Go Back To School & Transition To Anesthesiologist" ----> Please make sure you get to know more about CRNA Vs. MDA route. Good luck.

I got accepted into Scranton for Fall 2019; but i declined it due to getting accepted into my first choice. Same thing with one of the schools in Minnesota, the director was unable to answer honestly when being asked : "how does the program embrace the diversity?" - I also got accepted, but did not feel that I would be a good fit. So, I declined the offer also.

Yes, while every applicants is very competitive. It's better to show the schools that you work extra hard. University level looks better (for science classes) i think it's good enough if you have all A's. Take some advanced science classes (patho, pharm, physiology, ect..) to be more competitive. Please understand that while you have done several things to strengthen your application, you are competing against many applicants who have done the same. This contributes to a very competitive field, so the more you can do to ‘rise to the top’, the better.

You need to contact the schools that you want to apply and ask them if there is any Statistics Class online that they would reccomend and accept. I had to retake undergrad Statistic at Northwest Iowa Community College (online- general statistics) because its expired. For Chemistry, you really need to have A's (due to your Chem GPA <3.0.) Look up University of New England (UNE, they offer online Chem.) And also, please consider to take Advanced Classes (Pharm, Patho, Anatomy, Physiology) to be more competitive. Search California State University Domingue Hills. They offered online these advanced classes for non-seeking degree students) U need to have at least 300 GRE. Its A LOT of work,money, and time but if you really want to be a CRNA, do not take NO for the answer. good luck !

you will never go wrong with SICU, CTICU in level 1 Trauma (if you are planning to apply to CRNA Schools (for ex: USC in Cali, Duke, Georgetown in Washignton DC..). If you decide to do NP, any ICU experience at any hospital is great !

I will personally choose SICU (level 2), then apply to SICU (Level 1 ) after one year. With SICU, you will communicate with Surgeons, ICU Team, RT, MDA, CRNA, OR RN, ect. U will take care of many sick patients with diffirent kinds of procedures... i believe people should have at least 2 years ICU experience before applying to CRNA School. I had one year MICU experience when I was a new grad. After one year... and 3 days, I got an offer job in Trauma/SICU in level 1 Trauma; was there for 2 years (AND I LOVE IT, fast-paced) before I got accetped into multiple CRNA schools. Then I've been doing 2 per diem jobs as a .... MICU RN Level 1 (i HATE it- Pneumonia, Resp.Failure, DKA, Sepsis, Hemodialysis...again and again.... but good pay. I REALLY miss Trauma/SICU Level 1 with chest tubes, open chest at the bedside due to emergency, Gun shot wound in the head, abd, Major Car Accidents with massive blood transfusion, pt hanging themself, drowning from the oceans .. with General surg, neurosurg, ortho, ID, GI, Nephro, ect.. got involved... But any ICU in Level 1 Trauma is good !

I know for a fact, at least couples of people that I interviewed with did not join FB Group. I hope you will hear good news from the school soon. However, I don't think any programs will choose the alternates after they finish all the interviews. And also I don't think there is a set numbers of how many people they will pick each time of the interview. I guess most of programs will pick at least one to a few of people on their waiting list. Just contact Dr. W or Ms. P, and do not lose hope ever ! Good luck, keep us posted.

Congrats on landing an alternate spot. Union has a good reputation and is such an affordable program. All of the CRNA Faculty are very nice and knowledgeable. The program is just like a family, and I think this is such a healthy learning environment, where people (staffs and students) support and help each other. Yes, Alternate = waitlisted. Usually about 10 people, everyone has their own score during the interview, but the school do not share it. When there is an open slot, they will look back your interview again. My advice for you or anyone, who has not make it to any CRNA Program just yet, is to contact the director (for the program you think you will be a good fit) and ask them how to be more competitive. . A- is good for this diffcult chem at UCB. and yes, this online class is so da*n hard. If you want to get an A, you have to work REALLY hard for it. Ask the school director if the chem requirement can be INTRO Organic, BioChem (Most of schools that I applied, told me INTRO is qualified, and I still got interviews), and take it in the community college. It's much cheaper and easier.

Hey young man, You are still young and you have plenty of time to better yourself and make yourself more competitive. Keep doing what you're doing. Graduate first ! Get a job in the ICU in a big level I trauma teaching hospital (For Example: hospitals where you take care of the patients with A-LINE, Central Line, (or pt need to be intubated, ect.) on DAILY BASIS ! You DO NOT NEED to be on the Ward, or Step-down Unit first (if anyone ever told you so..) When you are done with nursing school, please SHADOW and also contact the CRNA Program Directors where you want to go, and ask them how to be more competitive and keep in touch with them, allow them to guide you and listen to what they tell you. Show them you have a Fire in your belly that this is what you want to do. I wish that I would have know what I wanted to do when I was as your age. It's not easy, and please understand that while you have done several things to strengthen your application, you are competing against many applicants who have done the same. This contributes to a very competitive field, so the more you can do to "rise to the top", the better. But its totally worth it when you receive a phone call from the director to invite you to join their program. The bottom line is : You might need to retake the science courses you received -B; however, first thing first, graduate and get a good ICU job ! Continue work hard and focus on your goals toward nurse anesthesia. And when things get difficult, do not feel discouraged, just hang tight and you will get there somedays !

On May 5, 2018, the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia entered into a cooperative agreement with Metropolitan State University to provide the remaining future Master's cohorts and our future Doctor of Nursing Practice cohorts their respective degrees. This programmatic change was approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. The first Master's cohort at Metropolitan State University will matriculate in Fall 2019 and the first Doctor of Nursing Practice cohort will matriculate in Summer 2020. My friend, who is now in the program, told me that they need to meet with their new academic affiliate to finalize all the details next month. So, keep waiting guys !

Thank you so much. Thats' very nice of you. Yeah, I am looking for an apartment that is near to school for first year. When I talked to ppl working in the restaurants near school. I was told to stay away from the South Jackson. The apartments they introduced to us are kinda far from the campus tho.
