  1. They have closed three floors in my hospital. We do have COVID patients but, as of right now, we are not being overrun with patients. Which is a great thing.
  2. I attend Union in Hendersonville and will graduate in May. YAY! Union is a great school and the staff is amazing. I live outside of Nashville and have a 40 minute commute. Traffic is not bad since I am going the opposite of rush hour traffic. In the beginning, I used the drive to listen to my lectures that I recorded. Our first clinical (Foundations and Adult Health 1) was held at Sumner Regional in Gallatin. Things are a little different with the newer cohorts and some clinical groups are at Sumner and others at Hendersonville, and some at Williamson (I think). The rest of our clinical (Psych, Adult Health 2, OB, Peds, Leadership, etc.) were at Vanderbilt and various other hospitals. You will have plenty of time to complete your package before orientation. They are great about communication and keeping you updated with the required paperwork that is needed. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
  3. Umm....I've never heard of these formulas. We use dimensional analysis. The answer I came up with is 0.2 mL.
  4. Personally, I’d want to be hired for my skills and what I can bring to the company. Not by the color of my skin. I’d also want to work with people who were competent and not just hired to make things “even.”
  5. What discrimination? Were you hired?
  6. I am not great at math. However, we were taught dimensional analysis and I get that. You will have to know conversions such as cups to ounces to mL, etc.
  7. We have clinical all over. Our first is Sumner Regional. You don’t get to choose your site.
  8. I also want to say that Union is a Christ-centered school. We are being trained to be the hands and feet of Christ. We pray before classes/exams and have devotions periodically. They don’t trick you into thinking they’re anything but that. It’s all over their website so I’m not even sure why this person was surprised about the question.
  9. I’m not sure what issues this person has had. Apparently they were not accepted to the graduate program he/she wanted. So, I don’t understand why applying would have been so detrimental to his/her life.
  10. No. This person, I believe, applied for the CRNA or other Masters program.
  11. I am in cohort 15 at Hendersonville. We are finishing up our first term and will start term 2 April 1st. I am thankful for spring break. We took 4 classes this term with two of them being online. We attend class on Monday and Wednesday for patho and Thursday for foundations for pharm. Our second term, we will be on campus Monday-Friday. This is our skills, health assessment, and Pharm 1 class. It is going to be so busy but it'll make the time fly by. The cohorts before us tell us after term 2, we really only attend campus 1-2 days a week and the rest will be spent in clinical. Of course, that can change at any time. I have not taken out any loans for school, yet, but we are considered full-time even though the semester is broken into two terms. I imagine the tuition/loan is similar to a traditional semester. They do have payment plan options if you want to go that route. You will get a packet before school starts that will break down the costs of each semester. You will be paying out-of-pocket for things that you will need to do before starting school. This includes a background check and setting up an account through CastleBranch to upload immunizations and CPR certification, etc. Mrs. Wright will send you all the information when it gets closer to time. Union University is a great school and I have no doubt that we will be prepared to when we start working as RNs. Congrats on your acceptance and I look forward to seeing you in the fall. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
  12. Don't be nervous. My story sounds a lot like yours. My first year in college was horrible. I was pregnant and life hit. I did some classes through APSU a few years later. When I decided to return to school 4 years ago, I was returning with a 1.07 GPA. I worked my butt off to get where I am at today. You can do it.
  13. @Fav1892 my GPA for my last GPA was 3.8. I have one B and an A-. However, looking at my NCAS application my overall GPA barely made the cut-off. It is a 3.07. I had some horrible grades when I first went to college. I was pregnant and the stress just got in the way. Anyway, I did not add my TEAS to the application. It wasn't required at the time. I had to send it in after I took it. We actually have a few from my cohort who are taking theirs today. So far, I think UU @ Hendersonville is going to be a great school. The professors seem super nice and very helpful. They want you to succeed. Please keep me posted on your application process. I wish you luck and maybe I'll see you in the fall.
  14. I start at UU in Hendersonville January 28th. To the OP, I no longer live at Fort Campbell but live right outside of Nashville. I will have a 40-minute commute. @HFavored1- when I submitted my application through NCas I received my acceptance within 2 weeks. I submitted early though. People were still being added to my cohort in November/December. I took the TEAS. It did not determine if I would get in or not. They wanted it for research purposes. I am not sure what the requirement is now. Also, to the OP, when it came to GPA they only look at your last 60 hours of credits. Apply and see what happens.
  15. I start the ABSN program at UU in January. I also used to live on Fort Campbell. I think an accelerated program is doable with kids. Just have to be determined. I wish you the best in your decision.
