Sharp New Grad March 2022
No worries! I interviewed on a Thursday, received my reference request e-mail a few hours after and then received a phone call the next Tuesday. My advice would be research the hospital so you know a bit about Sharp Mary Birch as they have a lot to offer! When I asked my interviewers about what they’re looking for they said retention is really important, so make sure they know if they hire you you’re in it for the long run. Since it’s a level three NICU they’ll probably ask about handling stress, so maybe think of ways you’d handle a high stress environment. Then lastly, the scenario questions like I mentioned. I did my externship in L&D so I tailored almost all my scenarios to either that or my clinicals in L&D, so if that applies to you I’d try and do the same for NICU. Good luck, you got this!

Thank you ? It was for the labor and delivery unit. Congrats on the interview and good luck!! Interview wasn’t too bad, about 10-15 questions. There was a lot of scenario questions like tell me a time when you had a conflict with a patient, etc.

Sharp New Grad March 2022
Mine was updated on Oct 21st as well, but still says under review. I’m hoping it’s a good sign! I haven’t heard from many others who applied for SMB other than two that have been denied. I know some other departments have updated statuses online and called for interviews. I was surprised no one had created a page here yet!

Tri-City Medical Center New Grad Program (Posted Oct 2021)
Hi! Creating this thread for those who’ve applied to the Tri-City Medical Center New Grad Program (posted Oct). I’m not sure if L&D and mother/baby are the only units so far, but that’s what I’ve applied for personally! I heard this is the first new grad cycle they’ve accepted in almost 10+ years for these units. Anyone internal and have more info or external and have heard anything from others?

Creating this thread for those who’ve applied to Sharp New Grad Residency for March 2022! I chose L&D at SMB as my first choice and was wondering if anyone else did so/has had an update to their portal ?

UCSD Nurse Intern/Extern cover letter Help
Hello! I am in your same position, just a few years later ? I was bummed to see that no one had replied back to you or has since created any more posts about UCSD’s externship program. Did you end up getting in, if you don’t mind me asking? Any tips for an applicant?

CNA vs EMT for pre-nursing student
Hello! I know your post was a few months back, but here's my advice if you hadn't made a decision! I am in my second semester of an accelerated Nursing Program and I am EMT certified. My best recommendation is make your decision based on what your strengths and weaknesses are. Good news; whichever option you choose, you're going to feel ahead of the game by getting either certification! If you feel confident in your hands-on patient skills and would prefer to focus on your book knowledge and knowledge of the physiology side of Nursing, become an EMT. I was fortunate enough to be a part of a really awesome Internship that allowed me to get a lot of hands-on patient care, so it was nice to focus on the book knowledge and physiology aspect of Nursing in EMT classes. On the opposing side, if you feel confident in your book knowledge or knowledge of physiology and want to practice your hands-on skills, go for your CNA certification. Hopefully this helps and good luck with whatever you decide! :)
