  1. I was just about to ask the same thing. Curious as to how things turned out...
  2. That’s true! I didn’t think of that since I never had to administer them. My diabetic students were on insulin pumps so it did require dosing but no needles.
  3. You could try school nursing! I worked as an elementary school nurse and never had to give shots or start IVs.
  4. ScalLVN, your work from home job for the orthopedic medical group sounds awesome! How did you find that job? I live in San Diego and would love to find a job like that. How do you like home health? Pros/cons? I've always been interested in home health, but wanted to learn a little more about it.
  5. I’m so sorry this has been your first experience in the nursing world after graduating! The position this hospital has thrown you (& it’s patients) into is ridiculous. No new grad should be expected to work without an orientation. Period. And then for the nurses to act that way towards you?!! They obviously haven’t heard of the growing movement for nurses to SUPPORT their young. Before you step foot into the ED for another shift, talk to your manager. If you are not given a preceptor ASAP, talk to HR. Lead and follow up with e-mails to have it in writing. If nothing changes, do not work another shift and find a new job. Protect yourself, your patients and your license! Post updates please. I really want to see you succeed as a new grad. There are amazing, supportive units out there and I hope you find one!
  6. Congratulations-so exciting!!!
  7. I just had an interview for a Maternal Child Health position and like honesttogoodness_RN said, most of the questions they asked me were not clinical. They were more geared towards finding out my personality and how I handle things in general (unexpected events and conflict with a coworker). I included in my answers how this would benefit me in that position, and of course why I was passionate about Maternal Child Health. Good luck to you! Keep us posted!!
  8. Ok-it sounds like this is the next step in the process, although if it were worded differently it wouldn't freak so many people out-haha! I thought maybe they changed their mind about me for some reason. Thanks guys for putting my mind at ease.
  9. Did anyone else get an e-mail from Scripps asking you to fill out a work history form? It said congrats, your application has been reviewed for further consideration and meets the minimum qualifications. Then it also says, please note that while you are moving forward in the recruitment process, it does not mean you have been selected for the position. I'm confused b/c I've already gotten an initial e-mail saying that I was selected for the Scripps New Grad Residency Program and an e-mail to self identify. I'm not sure what to think now?!
  10. Ennanurse, I'm at Scripps Mercy San in Hillcrest.
  11. I had an e-mail last week saying that in the next week or two I'd get an e-mail with my official offer. I did get an initial e-mail with an offer that listed the unit and pay rate. I just got the e-mail to self identify a couple days ago and that's it-still waiting on the official offer.
  12. I'm sorry to hear about Scripps, but happy for you about the home health job! What company is the home health job through? I have a friend who's really interested in doing home health. Congrats!!
  13. I interviewed for Mercy San Diego too. I was completely thrown off when I walked in the room and saw 9 people on the interview panel!!! After that I was just ready for the interview to be over-haha. Good luck to you and your friend!
  14. I don't know how many interviewed but my offer e-mail said that 80 nurses were chosen for the training program.
