Attend Diversity CRNA info session?
Hi all, can you please share some success stories regarding attending this conference and subsequent admission into CRNA school? I am conflicted - there's a conference hosted an hour away from me that's a month after applications are due. That conference, since its close to me, will total only $410 after gas. Or theres a few held earlier in the year, but I'd have to travel out of state, buy plane ticket, pay transport, get an airbnb, etc, totaling $1100 just to attend this conference. What would you do?

Prospective CRNA applicants: Have you attended a diversity CRNA workshop before?
Hey all! I was wondering if any current SRNAs, CRNAs, or prospective applicants have attended this 3-day conference offered by Diversity CRNA to gain more insight into the profession, application help, and also to stand out for your application? If so, I would love to hear more stories about your success, whether it was worth it in your experience? My other question is- I plan to apply this upcoming Summer in July. There's a conference offered just an hour away from me that is held in August. The cost of the conference and travel would total about $410. However, there are earlier conferences in May and June, that are out of state so I would have to travel, totaling my expenses to $1100. That is a lot of money to me and a lot of traveling and expenses just going towards traveling (uber rides, Airbnb, airline ticket), but I will be able to attend before I apply and use it towards my application. I just think it may be more helpful for me to attend the earlier ones, but the $600-700 difference is just crazy to me and I keep thinking I should just attend the one an hour away from me even though it's after when my application is submitted, because worse comes worst, I can always utilize the mock interview practice, and other things I gain from the conference towards my in person interviews? What are your thoughts please?

Has anyone taken advanced pathophysiology or pharmacology and university of phoenix?
Has anyone taken these classes at university of phoenix? The classes are NRP 507 and NRP 511. Would they be easy to ace if I am working full time, given I take one at a time? Thank you

Samuel Merritt CRNA 2021
Hi everyone I just wanted to clarify what the science GPA entails since I am getting ready to apply next year. Online it says Chemistry, stats, and physics (Recommended). Do they not look at A&P, microbio, all that good stuff?

How to deal with nurses who don't listen during handoff?
I am a newish nurse on an ICU floor that's finding it difficult to give report to a few particular nurses that do not seem to listen during report. These nurses will either space out, look behind my head during report, or look around and have me repeat what I had just said. There are some that seem disinterested in what I have to say about the patient and kind of just don't care. How do you deal with nurses that are like that? I want to be able to give report without thinking the incoming RN is going to be uninterested or not listen to important things I have to relay. I don't know if it's a personality type or maybe they think that I'm new so they don't have to hear what I say, but most people have been respectful so far. It's just been a few here and there.

New grad in ICU... any tips?
Hello all! I am to begin a new grad program in July in the ICU. I am definitely very scared and anxious since it has been a while since I graduated school, and I don't remember too much from my critical care classes. Do any of you have any tips for my success or transition as a new grad into the ICU? Thank you!!

Hi everyone, I interviewed with the hiring manager on 5/27 via telephone and received a phone call 6/8 for an offer in the critical care float pool division. Has anyone else heard back, and if so, what are your plans to relocate? Also, like everyone, I received a generic Email from HR saying that they are conducting their last interviews and decisions and will know by the end of this week. However, despite receiving that email, I also received an offer : ) Dont give up hope, if anything, follow up with HR!

Samuel Merritt Fall 2018 ABSN Program
Hi! I worked for a few months as a CNA and before that I had 3-month-long internships at local hospitals through my university. I also worked for a year as an in-home caregiver. I also added that i had experience working in an educational setting so that gave me leadership, communication, and empathy skills needed in nursing. I think it's the way you present what you have gained in your health experiences rather than the sheer amount that you have. For example, I wrote about how my 1 year experience truly impacted me to advocate for quality healthcare since I saw how limiting it was in my care of an old lady. Same with my 3 month long internships, I just talked about what I had gained and how that led me, step by step, through a journey of nursing. Hope this helps!

Samuel Merritt Fall 2018 ABSN Program
Wait sorry, but our cohort starts in September? Wouldnt we have to figure out how to pay for school by then--i.e. take out loans, and how much to apply for?
