CSUS Sacramento State Spring 2019
I got in as well with 74 points. There is a good chance I will not accept as I have been accepted elsewhere as well. Good luck to everyone who got in and who are on the waitlist. Because they were so late with decisions, those towards the top of the waitlist should not despair. Some folks who get in will have already committed elsewhere. Best of luck all!

SFSU BSN Spring 2019
I also received it. I believe they are all conditional acceptances as long as you meet the listed criteria by Fall '18 and accept Nursing and University admission, etc. Congrats to all of you who got in! Those who haven't, they still may be sending out notices in waves, so don't lose hope!

Yes that's the verbiage they decided to use. I would imagine because some of those receiving the letter have current courses that need to be completed in order to be fully accepted without conditions. I think it can be viewed as a conditional offer of admission to the BSN program as long as you complete the list of items they supplied. Congrats!!

Should I retake the TEAS?
Where are you applying in CA? With the schools I applied to (BSN only) in the SF Bay Area, I wouldn't settle for anything less than about a 90-92 - the higher the better. It really depends on how competitive it is in your area. Most BSN schools in the Bay Area have many hundreds of applicants each semester so the higher score is needed. However, elsewhere I have heard an 84% is enough. Best thing is to look on the schools' websites and/or call them to ask for the average TEAS score from previous accepted classes. Good luck!

Getting in with a W?
I agree with PartyTheNightAway. I would take a W over a C (or even perhaps a B depending on how competitive programs are where you're applying). Best of luck!

It sounds like most if not all are in the same position. I believe the University was holding off until the Nursing Program accepted their applicants. I imagine most people will see the University acceptance in the near future since the RN program has chided their qualified applicants. Those not chosen for RN program still might be offered admission into an alternate major.

I hope a mistake was made and you get a spot! I don't know that the TEAS score works that way for the point breakdown. I don't know how CSUEB calculates it, but if you look up the Sac State RN program, they have a breakdown of how TEAS points are calculated and it made sense to me when I saw it. I'm sorry you have to wait until Monday to find anything out.

I live about 10 minutes away! Living so far from the highways, the Concord campus is beyond ideal.

CSU East BAY Teas admission
Hi Farouss, I can't speak definitively; however, I have looked at the info for CSUEB over the last year and a half or so. They used to post the last cohorts stats, but they stopped doing that. If you have a 4.0 and do exceptionally well on the TEAS (like higher than a 93), I still don't think that is enough to get in. It is an extremely impacted program and the school does work strictly off the point system. My suggestion is to reach out to the nursing department, they are super nice and I'm sure can answer this question for you. If you're not applying for a while a great experience would be to volunteer at a hospital or something similar. In addition, you can volunteer in an area the program calls "multicultural" work - I imagine this is volunteering or working with programs that are designed to assist or further marginalized groups. I hope that helps, best of luck to you!

Microbiology is kicking my butt...
There are so many factors that we don't know so we can't guess why you are struggling. Professor/style of teaching/things going on in your life, etc. However, like Mergirlc pointed out, there are of course a ton of online resources. I hadn't heard of that Youtube person but probably would have helped when I took Micro. I got an A in Micro, but remember certain concepts being confusing such as immunity and various cell types and their functions, etc. Luckily I was taking Physiology at the same time so the teachings complimented each other (but were off by like two weeks). I definitely remember using Khan Academy and Crash Course after reading the book several times. The videos/illustrations and voices just explain things so much differently than a textbook. I thought they were a good compliment to the textbook and my lecture notes. Hope it helps and good luck! -David

Intro to Chemistry or Microbiology?
I'm not sure I quite understand your situation, as I don't know what APHY 101 or 102 is. Anatomy/Physiology 1 (A&P 1) and A&P2? Are you certain the nursing programs you will be applying to will allow you to CHOOSE between chemistry and microbiology? If that is truly the case, I would take microbiology hands down. Physiology will touch on some chemistry, but as an RN I doubt you think to yourself: The hydrolysis of this equation helps my patient because of .... However, I hope you would use Microbiology in terms of immunity knowledge (also helpful on TEAS/HESI - as is some basic chemistry) and other facts about different types of microorganisms and how soap/alcohol works effectively to kill certain buggers but not others, etc. Hope that helps! -David

The email I received said they expect to be done with the initial evaluation process by the third week of October (which is this week). However, I wouldn't freak out if nobody hears anything this week. I know we are all anxious to hear any news, but I also know the admissions team must be wading through hundreds upon hundreds of applications. If their projection was off by a week and they don't contact people until next week, no harm no foul. Everyone hang in there, we got this! I will say I am a bit surprised there aren't more people active in the conversation considering how many applicants they have and based upon previous threads.

Which reference book for teas exam do you recommend the best to start study
You'll find so much info online but I'd say most folks like the yellow Mometrix book (I used it) and the prep manual or online set from ATI themselves (I used that too). The online practices tests are well worth the money - they will calm your nerves about what the test will actually look like. I sat down and gave myself the exact amount of time I would receive per question on the real test and did the practice tests start to finish. My actual score was within 3-5 points of the practice exams. There are tons of videos to watch and you'll learn what sections you don't know well by doing the practice tests. Hope that helps!

NSkayJay, Do the clinicals increase as semesters go on? Is it a Psych clinical to match "Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing" the first semester? Also, I know clinical hours vary wildly, but what time range are your typical nursing classes? What's the earliest and latest? Thanks for the insight.
