Cincinnati Pay Rates/Great Oaks Program
Hello. I graduated 8/10/06 from Laurel Oaks in Wilmington. I LOVED the program. Our teachers were the BEST one could ask for. After graduating, the class did go their own ways. Those that I have stayed in touch with seem to be making an income in the range of $17-$21 per hour. It depends what shift you work, if you are PRN, FT or PT, and if you need benefits. Also, location has a factor. If you work more in the city areas, pay is higher. Plus, consider tuition reimbursement & benefits. I got a job with Vitas. I dont make as much as some of the third shift nursing home people, but health insurance for myself & spouse on costs me $130 per month, which includes optical, dental, life insurance and presciption cards. PLUS I get 224 PAID HOURS OFF in the first year. I work every other weekend. This is what works for me.... Good luck to you. I wish you the best. :balloons:

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
I took the PN NCLEX with 85 questions... I also passed a bunch of fluids from mutiple body orfaces while waiting. I felt terrible after & for the following 49 hours till I checked Pearsonvue results & found out I passed. Waiting is the HARDEST thing I have ever done. Even the dog didnt like me. The people her are great. I encourage everyone who is stressed to ask for support here when you need it.

anyone at lpn program at Great Oaks?
Hello & congrats on considering a nursing career. I also graduated from the Laurel Oaks PN (Wilmington) program Aug 10th. The instructors there are outstanding. I passed my NCLEX this past week. They are supportive & available if you need something. I attended UC where there you are just a face. I strongly prefer the Great Oaks program. Good Luck & let us know what you decide.

Laurel PN class 2
i wish each & everyone a great testing experience. we have been given the material we need to succeed. when you sit down at the terminal to test, close your eyes, take a deep breath & clear your mind. when you open your eyes, take the test. the hardest moments are immediately after & then playing the waiting game. i suggest stocking up on 7-up & lots of soft toilet paper. you will be a wreck until you too will say "i am a nurse". believe in yourself. you will achieve your dreams & life as you know it, will never be the same again.
