Hello NursePatty, You can file a complaint on the DCA website for California, Consumer>File a complaint>"How to File a Citizens Comment/Complaint About DCA" There you should be able to find a drop down menu to file a report against the BRN. In the letter you should explain your situation, job opportunity and what you have done to reach out to the BRN.

You should definitely be able to apply to other nursing programs. As long as, you meet their requirements (i.e GPA, prereqs, entrance exams, and etc). If you are thinking about transferring to other colleges; have you thought about attending other institutions? I do not mean to infringe; but, the reason I ask is because cal baptist is not a cheap institution to be doing prereqs at. You certainly can do them at CC's or cal states. If you qualify for financial aid you might be even able to take 12+ units for just $40 dollars or so. You also might need to save those federal loans later down the line when you actually apply for nursing programs

Congratulations on being able to follow what you are passionate about. In all honesty you should find supplemental books which focuses on the core nursing classes you are about to take. The reason I say this is because nursing school is a monster you have to defeat and pass first before taking the nclex. The nclex in itself is a beast and without a strong foundation to what nursing is about, I believe studying for the nclex at this time can be confusing. You have to understand what nurses can or cannot do, what other disciplines you will be working with, how to prioritize as a nurse, the laws and rules nurses must abide by, and how to delegate. Understand disease processes, treatment plans and prevention. The nclex books and or other nclex resources will teach you how to approach an nclex style question and or how to use critical thinking to answer an nclex question. However, the nclex books might not help as much in your core classes which you need to pass and focus on first. There are great resources out there to help you pass the nclex (i.e UWorld) when it is time to take it. The reason I say to focus on your core classes is because exams from your core classes will be specifically focused on that particular subject. Whereas, the nclex is extremely broad and without a strong foundation studying for the nclex can be daunting. I hope this helps, good luck on your nursing school.

The trick does work. I believe doing the trick brings ease to my mind. I have had a friend failed her first time with 265 questions and passed her second time with 265 questions. Good luck

Hello Alraynurse, There is nothing anyone can do before the 45th day that is the rule. I filed mines on the 46th day because I wanted to make sure I did not get any response from the BRN before filing a complaint. I know you want to take the test ASAP. However, for me even though I got approved on the 48th day. I still scheduled my test 4 weeks after receiving my ATT to make sure I did not sure rush my study and make sure I pass this second time. There is no point in rushing if you are not ready yourself.

Hello Norcalluna, I do not know what the rules are of Nclex-PN. If it is the same rules as the Nclex-RN, then you'll have to wait until after the 45 day wait period to contact the board for them to even do anything to your application. Anything before the 45 day there is nothing the board can do to your application. I am not sure what kind of questions you should ask or if any question for that matter will speed up the application process. For me I had a valid reason related to work opportunity. Tried the PVT right after taking the test got a bad popup received failed letter 1 week later. If you do not mind me asking, at what question did you stop at? and how many sata questions did you have? I know people who passed with 75 and 12 Sata or as high as 25 Sata with 75 questions. I know people who failed with 265 questions and 23 Sata. I myself failed in my first attempt at 76 questions and 6 or 7 sata.

Hello alraynurse, My guess is you are out of the country and not located in the US. The state assembly member is usually a representative from the city you reside in and each city has a different representative. Therefore, I do not believe reaching out the state assembly member will apply to you. However, you might be able to contact the Governor of the state you are trying to apply to and see what they might be able to do to help you. Yes, I sent the same complaint to each agency because it is honestly a valid complaint.

You'll do great! You'll need to move fast, I am not sure when the Nclex testing is due for an update. I don't remember exactly how many years the nclex is updated but I think it will be soon. So in my initial post, I said I did Uworld twice. Therefore, I did over 4000+ questions and used the delegation prioritization book. You know the content, just have to know how to apply it towards those Nclex questions. I believe the higher level questions are prioritization, delegation and leadership. My focus on the exam was actually not to get all the questions right but to make the bigger points count. For example, SATA is pretty hard I would try my absolute best to get those questions right. When it came to lower level questions compared to SATA, I would spend more time to make sure I get them right such as prioritization questions. Try finding some books on higher level questions so you can can practice critical thinking and application. The nclex knows you know the content, you know the content but it takes practice to apply the knowledge.

Hi RNJourney19, Honestly, everyone is different. I waited until I really accepted my failure which was about 1 month after. I would study here and there; however, I was more focused on self improvement and planning my study strategies. I would ask my self everyday what I need to focus on and what I believe I did wrong. I believe if you try to study right after failing, you will do fail again because you need to give yourself time to recuperate and for your mind to reset. Talking to people actually helped me move forward and bring my confidence in myself bag. The resources I used was Uworld and Delegation Prioritization and Leadership book. Prioritization was an area I was very weak in; thus I supplemented with that book. With that being said, what worked for me may not work for you. You need to sit down and reevaluate yourself. Look at the most common types of questions you missed and see if there is a book full of those types so you can have more practice. You should ask yourself whether you give yourself enough time to really review questions, were you distracted often, did you make studying a habit, when did you study, when do you think is the best time to take a test morning/noon/nights. Were you nervous, if you were nervous how can you decrease your anxiety. Did you misread the questions? If so how will you catch yourself from doing it again. Are you lacking in content knowledge? Have you looked at the various types of test taking strategies; do you already know them and use them actively when taking tests? Take one day at a time to reevaluate yourself and see what you can improve on. Every little change you make can add up to you passing.

Hi Dtngu, Do not give up! you are very very close! I see you have a lot of resources you used for the nclex. Your content knowledge must be very vast! I took the nclex twice. I believe all the small little details you use to improve yourself will give you the few points to help you pass the nclex. i.e: Did you focus on how to analyze and tackle the structure of the questions itself? Did you engrave the various test taking strategies kaplan offered you? Did you make it a habit to study or simulate the test as much as you can? Did you spend extra extra time and questions in the areas you are weak in? One other thing I did was studied in a group for about two sessions with UWorld. As a group we would sit there, give each other a rationale of why we chose the answers before submitting the answer. This allowed us to see how other people tackle the various questions and also see our mistakes in those questions. For myself, I am not a very good test taker. I like to do things and learn by hands on. However, when I did made small adjustments to my studies it helped boost my confidence.

Hi RN Journey, I submit my reapply application online through the breeze website. It is a similar form you used for your initial RN application. You do not have to redo the fingerprint. Hi Lexilove, Do not give up, I am not sure what resources you used to study. However, you should start self reflecting and to ask yourself what you need to do to past the next test.

Hi Julsca, The 45 day is based on when you took the test. So 45 days from March 29th is May 13th. So you can be eligible to retake your exam after May 13th if they process your paperwork. I am in California, our current processing time for retake application, based on the BRN website, is 10-12 weeks and they are barely processing Feb 1-15 applications. Have you not received any letter from the BRN yet?

Hi Bentolbeng, If you contact the board they will say your application will take 10-12 weeks, currently they are processing Feb 1-15 for the retake application based on the BRN processing website. After that they will say you will have to wait those 10-12 weeks and there is nothing else they can do about it. Don't waste your time being on hold on the phone for 1+ hr to hear that. You should do what I suggested above, you can write a complaint to the DCA against the BRN or you can email and file a complaint with them against the BRN However, if you do so I suggest you give them a reason to move your application forward.

Hi, PVT The PVT trick worked for me and all my classmates. I don't know of anyone who has failed in my class except for me. However, those who did passed and myself tried the PVT before their name was on the board. Resubmitting You can resubmit your application if you know absolutely you have failed. I received my official fail letter exactly 1 week after the test. The reason why I say absolutely is because if you submit the payment to either pearsonvue or BRN you will not get that money back if you find out you passed. According to the rules you have to wait a minimum of 45 days between tests. However, the BRN is not required to process your application right after 45 days. The BRN will say they are understaffed and are following the processing time located on the BRN website, which at the time for CA was 10-12 weeks after the submission of the application and not based on the date you failed. i.e: say you took your test on 04/18 you receive your failed letter one week later which is 04/25 and you file your retake application the same day, 04/25. From 04/18, 45 days later is on June 03. From 04/25 for 10-12 weeks (70-84 days!) is June 27 to July 11. Pearson vue If you have 200 to pay for pearson vue you should, if not you can wait or pay it as soon as you know the BRN is processing your application. The reason I say you should pay if you have the 200 is because it is like a cycle, if the BRN processes your application they will send the confirmation to pearson vue to give you the ATT. However, if you did not pay the 200 then there will be a lag in getting your ATT because pearson vue has no record of you.

Honestly, the paper didn't do much to help in my studies for the second nclex. I used uworld overall performance to see which areas I needed to review before resetting uworld data. You can also take a picture of your overall performance to keep as a record to study along. I did an additional 30 questions on areas I was weak in on top of the 75. Honestly, you should go with ADN you will save thousands of dollars for the same position. Not only that some institution will pay your tuition to get a BSN and or have some form of tuition reimbursement program. If you work for Loma Linda they will pay your entire tuition for LLU school of nursing ADN to BSN. or if you choose to go to other institution (i.e western governors university) you will receive 8 unit credit per year towards any educational tuition.

Hi Bentolbeng, My first attempt at the NCLEX was in Jan 18 and my Second attempt was April 4th. Have you taken the nclex yet? what is your plan if you have not taken it yet?

If ATI is not doing it for you, you have plenty of other resources out there to help you succeed. We all come from different background and we all learn differently. If what the school uses does not work for you, it is in your best interest to invest in research and time to find other ways to succeed. If you look in the right places you can find audio lecturers and books for free to download. My school just recently switch to ATI and for my cohort the comprehensive exam did not count against us from graduating. Thus, I did not take that exam seriously and just took it to take it. However, with that being said many people like myself used Uworld and passed their nclex. It took me two tries and two attempts at Uworld but I passed. You have gotten this far in nursing school it should mean something.

One of my friend took his in pasadena and held his results for almost 3 weeks. He had to wait until the processing time for results on the BRN website to be up to date before the board would do anything. Within a few hours after talking to the BRN it was released.

Hi Miaella1, There is a pdf version I can send you if you need it. You can send me your email. I don't like the rationale in the book so much. I only used it practice questions. Uworld itself has great content.
