  1. BCIT, LANGARA, DOUGLAS nursing

I’m entering my final year in September ?
  2. BCIT, LANGARA, DOUGLAS nursing

To be honest I think it’s a prestige thing with BCIT. From what I understand the NCLEX passing rates are pretty similar. Ultimately what matters is that you get a good education that opens up doors for you, and doesn’t bankrupt you.
  3. BCIT, LANGARA, DOUGLAS nursing

Personally I chose Douglas even though I could have gotten in to Langara or BCIT faster because of the cost savings and overall good reputation of the school. It’s also the most convenient to me. I have enjoyed it so far and have had some great facul...
  4. Fact or Fiction? Masking and CO2 Dangers

I saw a nurse on Instagram that did capnography with 3 masks on with minimal impact. It was an interesting video.
  5. Classmates who cheat

I recently found out a few people in my class that I have often suspected of cheating have in fact been cheating. That being said, I have not personally witnessed it, so I just have to take solace in the fact that it’s extremely unlikely that they wi...
  6. Gloves at all times?

They literally taught us the first week of nursing school: “the gloves are for your protection not the patients” unless they are sterile gloves for a sterile procedure, they do nothing for the patient.
  7. BCIT, LANGARA, DOUGLAS nursing

Just a note: I don’t know how this works in other programs but Douglas has moved mostly to e-texts for nursing which are required and charged with your tuition fees so there is no way to opt out.
  8. BCIT, LANGARA, DOUGLAS nursing

If you obtain a very high GPA in your pre-reqs you can get in sooner at Langara or BCIT. At Douglas as long as you get the minimum GPA you can get in but it’s first qualified first admitted so it takes longer (average about 2-2.5 years after finishin...
  9. 5 Things ER Nurses Wish Every Parent Knew

Good article. I live in Canada where we don’t really have Urgent Care. My area is trying to get this started and have opened some clinics near hospitals where they are open later.. I think around 10 pm. I am a nursing student (RN/BSN program) and my ...
  10. WINTER 2020 - Douglas College Intake

@roseypoo I worked too. I work on a Redevelopment Project at one of the local hospitals which is a great way to make contacts while you are waiting. Other than making sure all your vaccinations are up to date there isn’t much else you can do. You wil...
  11. WINTER 2020 - Douglas College Intake

The wait for Douglas is usually 2-2.5 years after you finish your pre-reqs. OP will probably get in Fall of 2021 or thereabouts. I had a 3.92 GPA and finished August 2017, and I start my program Fall 2019.
  12. Douglas Nursing Fall 2019

Email that I signed up with. My douglas email was cut off awhile ago so it's a good thing they didn't send it there.
  13. Douglas Nursing Fall 2019

Yep: Paying fees in person - Douglas College
  14. Douglas Nursing Fall 2019

I got in! Got my email this morning and paid my deposit right away!
  15. Douglas Nursing Fall 2019

Nothing yet! I called the other day to the registrars office and they said that my application was still pending review but they had no idea when it might be reviewed.
  16. Douglas Nursing Fall 2019

I am dying to know! It's officially been 8 weeks since applications closed so we should know soon?!
  17. Douglas Nursing Fall 2019

I haven't heard anything yet either. I am guessing we will hear the very end of November or the beginning of December. I finished Summer 2017. From what I understand it will be mostly Winter 2017 students getting in and then potentially some of the h...
  18. Douglas college Fall 2018

Who applied for Fall 2018 and when did you finish your pre requisites? My account is still not even showing my pre-reqs which were all done at Douglas. I probably wont get in because I only finished in Summer 2017 so the chances are really low, but ...
  19. Douglas college Fall 2018

Yeah I could have applied you Langara but I don't really want to go there to be honest. I also work at bc women's and children's hospital right now which I think would boost my chances with bcit. You are right though, they do require Chem 11 which I ...
  20. Douglas college Fall 2018

Bummer. I just got an email saying the program is full. I knew it was likely but I was hoping anyways. I have a 3.96 gpa. I'll probably apply for bcit since they go by gpa.
