  1. Hey everyone! I am going to be graduating nursing school in a couple of months. I am doing my senior practicum capstone on the mother and infant unit. I noticed that sometimes I have trouble talking to the parents and figuring out what to say to them to make conversation. What are some things that you ask them (whether that be about the baby or about themselves) that helps you strengthen the nurse patient relationship? Some of the things that I ask are if they have any other children at home, how did they decide to pick their baby’s name, so on. But I feel like it is always the same couple of things I talk about and I want to build stronger rapport with my patients. I would appreciate your advice!
  2. I think you might have to email or call admissions to figure that out. I'm thinking the orientation might be in December or early January.
  3. Hey everyone! I applied for the Spring 2019 accelerated nursing program and wanted to know if anyone has heard back yet. I heard that some people can be accepted even before the priority or final deadline. I applied before the priority deadline and think we will hear back in late August before the final deadline of Sept 1 I think. I'm not sure though.
  4. Hey everyone! When you applied to Bon Secours, are you sent a link to make your application payment once all application materials are received? I submitted my online application a few weeks ago and had my transcripts delivered to the college, but I'm waiting on one letter of recommendation.
  5. Did they send a normal size envelope separately from the huge one ? Or was it just one huge envelope they sent with your acceptance letter inside? I applied for the same cohort entry too! Congratulations on your acceptance!
  6. Hey everyone! I applied for a later cohort entry and wanted to know if the admission decision they send via mail is sent in a big envelope or a standard size envelope if you are accepted to the nursing program.
  7. Hey everyone! I applied for a later cohort entry and wanted to know if the admission decision they send via mail is sent in a big envelope or a standard size envelope if you are accepted to the nursing program.
  8. Both are good schools, but I understand that the financial part is important. I'm also confused because if they don't rank people then how will they go about pulling people off the waitlist? They must have some sort of ranking system. It would be helpful to know what number we were at! I think it's great you got in somewhere though and you never know, you may receive an email from VCU saying they have a spot available for you.
  9. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't receive any email yet and you don't know if you're out for sure though. Did you apply to any other nursing schools?
  10. I was wait listed but they didn't specify a number. Were you wait listed too? I wonder how they are ranking people on the wait list for the traditional program and how many people were accepted, specifically to the traditional pathway for second degree students. Did you hear back on your status into the program?
  11. I think unless Marymount specified that your acceptance is contingent upon you completing the prerequisites, then I think they already transferred over and you are officially accepted into the program. Based off of my understanding, it seems like they accepted the prerequisites already! Did you apply with your bachelors degree already completed or are you still in progress in competing your first degree?
  12. If you got an acceptance letter, doesn't that mean that you meet the prerequisite requirements? Congrats though! What other schools did you apply to?
  13. Does anyone remember the time of day when they sent out your decision letters? I am anxiously awaiting mine for the Spring 2019 entry!
  14. Out of curiosity, did anyone also apply to VCU's nursing? If so, are the SAT scores required to be submitted with the application?
  15. Are SAT scores required to be submitted with the application?
  16. When you submitted your NursingCAS application and it has a status of verified, did it also say verified when you went to download your application for review? When I go to download my application on the NursingCAS portal, it says my prerequisite coursework entry is unverified, but GPA's were calculated and I have an overall verified status.
  17. What was the interview for the wWashington Squared Program like if you don't mind me asking!
  18. If you don't mind me asking, I am interested in knowing what your job duties as a care partner at VCU.
  19. I know I have asked quite a few questions, but I appreciate your help! Are SAT/ACT scores required for second degree students? If so, I am having trouble figuring out what the college board ID is for my SAT I took in 2012. I also had my official transcripts mailed to NursingCAS and have not submitted my online NursingCAS application. Hopefully, this will be ok as I believe they will save my transcripts until after I submit the application.
  20. Does Marymount offer a traditional, slower pathway for second degree students? And I believe the TEAS is not required for the accelerated program.
  21. Hello! Congrats on getting in to those who applied! I will be applying for a future cohort date and had a few questions. Do the references have to be from one professional and one academic source? Or can they be from two employers (and no academic professors)? What address did you use to send your official transcripts to?
  22. Thank you so much! That's what I thought, but thank you for clarifying.
  23. I'm applying for a future nursing cohort date and have a question about NursingCAS. There are two sections where we are required to enter prerequisite coursework. One on the transcript entry section and another on the page that has documents/references. Did you enter only prerequisite coursework For both of these sections? I attended more than one university, but only listed all VCU's prerequisite course equivalencies for one university and left the other universities blank as I did not take preprequisites at these universities.
  24. For the VCU application on NursingCas, are you required to fill in transcript information for only the prerequisite courses? Or is it filling out every single class you ever took from each university you attended?
  25. That's awesome you got into GWU. It is one of my other choices, but the tuition cost is the only problem. If you don't mind me asking, what made you select GWU over VCU? Congrats on your acceptance though! That is so exciting!
