    Nursing Application

Hello everyone! I have a question about applications and who is able to see them. I recently applied to a couple of jobs and I was just interested in knowing if human resources is the only one who sees my application and resume. When I apply for jobs, does the nurse manager on the unit I am interested in working on also get to see it? Or does human resources look over my application and resume first and then forward my information to the nurse manager? How does this process work?

    VCU ABSN Summer 2018

That's great! I know people who are in an accelerated nursing program and enjoy it. I'm still debating on whether to apply to the accelerated or traditional in the future. Since accelerated is fast-paced and there's no breaks I'm worried about personally becoming burned out since nursing school is a rigorous program. Do you know how VCU's nursing program works in terms of offering any gaps between the semesters?

Sarah, Thank you! I appreciate your response. I have noticed that a lot of jobs do require CNA licensure or being enrolled in a medical/nursing program in VA. Do you have recommendations for keywords to use when searching for hospital tech jobs on job posting sites? I understand that this job varies by state in terms of what people refer to this job title as.

Are you applying for the traditional or accelerated pathway for second degree students?

Sarah, I did not receive any of your replies, except for one that was a sentence long about making a typo!

    Part-time jobs in Nursing Field

Yes, that was what I meant by independent exams. Thank you for correcting me on that and for your feedback!

    Part-time jobs in Nursing Field

Is it a policy not to use "nurse" in my username? I included it because I am aspiring to be one and have tailored my experiences towards the nursing field. I didn't know that it was an issue and was not implying that I'm a nurse or hold a license. I also do think I am able to list these experiences on my resume as volunteer activities. It shows that I have some knowledge/familiarity in the field as a student nurse. I did check with a nursing advisor and she said my resume was fine since I listed my experiences under the title of student nurse.

    VCU ABSN Summer 2018

Hi Sarah, I am looking to apply to nursing school in the future, specifically VCU's accelerated nursing program. In the meantime, I wanted to gain more health care experience, preferably in a hospital setting. Since you have experience as a medical assistant and tech, is it possible for me to have a chance of applying to similar positions? I do have some nursing experience, but wanted to know what the requirements of these jobs are/if medical licenses are required. Also how do you go about finding these types of jobs? I appreciate your help!
  9. Hello everyone, I am interested in applying to part-time jobs related to the nursing field. I do understand that most jobs require you to have some sort of nursing/medical license and that volunteering at hospitals is the best way to go. I am interested in applying to an accelerated nursing program once I graduate from my current university. I was originally accepted into nursing school, but was dismissed during my second semester due to two grades of 79.99%. The passing score was 80%. With this said, I do have 1 year of experience as a nursing student on the labor and delivery, NICU, medical-surgical, and behavioral health units. I have experience giving medications, shots, performing activities of daily living, inserting Foley catheters, performing independent medical exams, and charting in the EHR. I currently volunteer at a children's hospital and I am also an intern at a clinic. I am interested in applying for a part-time job as a medical assistant or some sort of hospital job that is patient-care related. I would appreciate any advice you could give me on this! I also did post this in another forum, but posted it here as well for advice from nursing students.

I typed up my questions on Microsoft Word and then copied/pasted them here. It is not a school assignment.

    Questions for nurses

Hello nurses, I am an aspiring nursing student and I genuinely am interested in your responses to any of these questions below. Yes, I could google them, but I want your individual, personal experiences, if that is not too much to ask! What made you want to become a nurse? What is the most difficult/best thing about being a nurse? Advice you can give to someone who wants to become a nurse? What other areas or work/careers could you work in with your experience and education? Important skills for this career? How you provide compassionate care to your patients and why it's important to you? Your proudest moment as a nurse? What does your typical work day consist of? What paperwork/administrative duties does this profession require you to do? How do you handle stress and managing your time?
