  1. I personally know of someone who took the exam and got 100 questions and failed, I also know of someone who got 170 questions and failed. My earlier post tells you that I got 170 questions and passed. The best advice I can give to those of you waiting is to take a deep breath and know that the worst that can happen is that you take the exam again. In the mean time try to enjoy your family and life as it was before CRNA school. Good luck to all and keep us posted!
  2. Yep, I just graduated from TCU. Send me a pm or email me on my tcu account. Talk to you soon!
  3. I haven't posted since I started didactic, about 2 years ago. I just took boards, went to 170 questions and found out that I PASSED yesterday! Happy New Year to all the new CRNA's! Hang in there to all of you who are still waiting to hear. It's the best feeling! Thanks to everyone here who helped me get through the last two and a half years. You guys didn't know it, but I always turned to this site for encouragement, advice, etc. THANKS! :yeah:
  4. I'm just about done with my first year, which has been all didactic, and I am married with three children ages 10, 5, and 3. My husband travels weekly for his job and has basically become a "mother". I totally had to step back and let him handle everything, thank God he was willing and able to do it (I don't even grocery shop anymore!). I think that CRNA school is tough no matter what situation you come in with. If you want it badly enough you'll do what it takes to make it happen. Just be sure that you have support at home and line up others that can help your spouse out when he needs a break. Your spouse can make or break you while you're in this kind of a program. Overall, it's totally doable with kids. As for programs favoring single people or people with no kids, I'm not so sure about that. Typically, CRNA students are older and come in with some "baggage". As long as you express to the people that interview you that your spouse is on board with your decision and is willing to help you along there shouldn't be a problem. Good luck with your decisions. I hoped this commentary helped.
  5. I started out taking my laptop to class and found that I listened better and took more away from class by just taking regular notes on the powerpoints presented in class. Though some of my classmates do still use their laptops (I've noticed that some of them have the capability of "writing" on their laptops, they seem to like it) Find what works for you and stick with it. Good luck!
  6. I'm just going to cut to the chase and say SHUT YOUR MOUTH to avlis. Obviously this person is truly idiotic and assanine for posting such STUPID comments. Hopefully, avlis will GROW UP and learn a few things in the process. Good luck to you all, I start in two weeks with a 2, 4 and 9 year old. I think I'm better prepared to handle the stress because of my family situation. Can't wait to get it started.!
  7. Just keep thinking about how far you've already come and what an honor it is to be in your position. Remember your reason(s) for wanting to become a CRNA and don't let any doubts creep in. Good luck to you!
  8. Thanks for the input everyone. I will truly miss most of my coworkers, it's just the few that are making it hard for me to keep a good attitude. Six more days of work to go! Not really a bad deal....certainly don't want to burn any bridges. Thanks again everybody!
  9. Has anyone noticed a change in attitude from coworkers during these last few weeks of work? I just returned from vacation about a week ago and I noticed a huge change. My schedule is horrible, they're constantly changing it and insisting that I work weekends and the overall vibe is just so negative. Maybe it's just me. I'm actually planning which days that I will call in because I'm about at my wits end with it all. Any advice would help. School starts August 18th and it can't come soon enough!!
  10. The CCRN certification simply stands for Critical Care RN. It is an examination that one must apply for and receive permission to take after completing a certain amount of time caring for patients in the critical care environment (about one year). The application can be obtained from several sources. Once it is completed and mailed the process for approval can take several weeks. At the point that the approval is made an appointment can be made to take the exam. It is a pass/fail exam with results rendered immediately after the examination. Hope this helps.
  11. I can absolutely relate to your feelings. Although I'm not having to move I still find myself becoming very anxious about finances, lifestyle changes, etc. I have three children and a spouse that works as well as travels alot...his job is somewhat unstable at this point. I know things will work out, but I can't wait to just get it all started. I'm trying to make myself enjoy this time before school as much as possible because I know that I will miss it dearly once it's gone. Good luck to you!! We're all in the same boat.
  12. Soliant12, Who wants to be in debt for 150k even on a CRNA salary? I did understand exactly what she was saying. It might not take 30 years to pay off but how about a nice 500-1000 dollar note every month for 10-15 years. She already stated that her minimum monthly expenses totalled 4500 with basically no debt. Just a thought. Have a fabulous day!!!
  13. I have three children, 9,4, and 2 one of which is obivously in school while the other two are in full-time daycare est. 300/week. My husband will continue to work full time while I attend school. We just figured that our total debt for school wil be around 60-80K. I would think that even if your husband works part time it would be better than nothing, certainly better than taking out so much in loans. What are all of your childcare options? I know you get what you pay for with daycare and I know it can be expensive, however having a different place for the kids to go that is safe, fun and happy might be better than having them at home full time. Having them there could certainly impact your study time in a negative way as well as create resentment on your husband's part because he never gets a break from the kids. Just something to think about. Good luck.
  14. I applied to two schools pretty much because they are both located in the city in which I live...very lucky for me. I interviewed at two and was accepted into one.
  15. I'm finding it harder and harder to get up every night also and come on in now that I have that proverbial "open door". I can see right through it and I sooo want to walk on through. Things don't seem to bother me much either. I just keep thinking I see the light at the end of the tunnel. As far as overtime goes, I'm taking all I can get, paying off a few things before school. I'm trying to get excited about our upcoming vacation in June, my last one for a while I imagine. Good luck everyone...we're almost there!!
  16. I'M IN AND WILL SEE EVERYONE IN AUGUST! I'LL BE STAYING HERE IN FORT WORTH....SWEET!! COUNTING DOWN THE BED BATHS AS WE SPEAK! :lol2:
  17. I also can empathize. I am working with a wonderful person who was accepted to the same school I interviewed with AT THE INTERVIEW. It makes me soooo nervous thinking about not going and watching a friend go without me. Fear of rejection I guess. I'm trying to stay positive, pray alot, and keep busy but it's so hard. Any advice would be welcome.
  18. I interviewed November 8th. I'm still waiting to hear any news. My coworker also interviewed the week after me and got an offer on the table which she accepted. I hear it's pretty rare to have that happen. Has anyone else heard anything back from them?
