My Visit to China: Could This Be A Reason Why Coronavirus Started There?
Again, you fail to see why people are offended by the article, but only sees the offense that pertains to your point of view. Being offended by the word boomer, but ignoring the blatant xenophobic article only proves you view everything in eurocentric perspective. Me calling out on TriciaJ was to prove exactly that.

You missed my point. The OP used a picture of a bat soup which was one of the reasons why many people around the world started bashing on Chinese people, leading to some recent tragic incidents like this: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-bullies-attack-asian-teen-los-angeles-accusing-him-of-having-coronavirus/?fbclid=IwAR1uSWOeG5AulAQANobxn5oWsQARCNNXSH2RgCAyf9dVRSSWZQkLtuaQQpQ So when you have an OP who deliberately used such falsifying picture while knowing it has zero relation to the actual virus is indeed xenophobic IMO

It is still unsure where the virus originated from, yet the admin put a picture of a bat soup as the main photo of the article. This whole idea of "bat soup" came from the video that was posted on youtube, and it was confirmed that the Chinese woman who was eating the soup was in Palau at that time, not Wuhan. But this admin posts an article with a falsifying picture to gain viewers and to spread misinformed rumors. If this isn't xenophobic, I don't know what is, especially when the OP even suggested that snakes are the center of the issue.

How can one have a conversation when people who cause the offense refuse to acknowledge their mistake? Or even further, those people like you, who refuses to look the matter in different viewpoints? Being narrow minded isn't going to help you in the future. If you want to solve problem in adult ways, perhaps the first thing you should do is to understand why people are having issues with this article, and not attack the people who were offended by the article. By defending the OP, and refusing to take any consideration of the other viewpoint makes you look petty and uncultured. Also, putting bat soup as an "attention grab" is despicable and revolting. The fact that people like you haven't acknowledge how offensive this may be just shows how uneducated you are in terms of cultural awareness

People should not even have to call names in the first place if people are competent enough to know the cultural differences. This isn't a new material given it was started by none other than Madeleine Leininger in 1950s. Conversations are not shut down but being "Politically Correct." If anything, It's the refusal of accepting the faults by people like you that interferes with the delivery of healthcare. The useless article you linked has nothing to do with race. Fatness and Racial discriminations are not the same. My comment regards to fat people were to show that you cannot expect zero criticism for expressing your opinions.

"Triggered" is not the word I would ever use in this context. This only shows how ignorant some people can be when it comes to respecting, embracing, and understanding cultural differences. Racism comes in many forms. Sure, the OP did not specifically used racial terminations, but failure in having a tiny consideration of other cultural values in such profession like nursing is indeed abhorrent and repulsive. We are taught to consider other cultures and values. Heck I had a question on how to approach a Chinese woman in a clinical setting because they have different cultures. And here we are, discussing an article written by an admin who fails to realize what he wrote wreaks xenophobia and remarks created from non other than western point of view. It sickens me that some people are defending his stance, and even blatantly ignoring strong counter arguments that are presented. Surely, the mods will have to close this thread, but I hope they also delete this senseless article. It would be vile to have this article up and have no one be able to refute such unfavorable claims.

What you believe the article to be is completely different from the eyes of those who have faced multiple racist remarks ever since this "virus" erupted. You're right, nowhere in the article did he mention Chinese being an inferior race, but putting a picture of a bat soup (which hasn't even confirmed as the cause) on a front page of a forum as an admin is senseless and deceiving. Generations change, and as you are a nurse for 39 years, it's quite hilarious and not surprising you cannot look into other people's eyes, and only see from your own viewpoints. Having a narrow-minded viewpoints certainly isn't going to allow you to see the actual problem of this article.
