  1. not sure, but i know a few LVNs that worked in hospitals and said they sure treated nothing more than glorified CNAs..
  2. are you looking for a nursing home job or hospital job? i live in allen.
  3. update..nurse sleepy just call the administrator just after 0630 to report me that i took a picture of him while he is sleeping and asked if that was legal, administrator's responce, you just admitted to me that you are, that even better than the picture. guess what happened to him?
  4. here's one, i work the nite shift, and a co-worker sleeps at the nurse's station, doesn't help out, does not answer call lights or bed alarms, had the nerve to tell me he's going for a break, disappears for an hour, can't find him nowhere's ,then returns to the nurses station to sleep some more..then had another nerve to be upset when i told him i'm going for my break, and told me me has not punch out yet, for his break? anyways i reported him to the DON, her response was..we'll i do not have all my ducks in a row yet.(meaning i can't do anything bec. i can't find a replacement, and none of the on-call really would like to work your shift) so i took a picture of him sleeping, and showed this to him, in the hopes that it will straighten him out, but no , his responce was..."i'm not sleeping, i'm resting with my eyes closed. on one occasion he treatened to sue me for taking his picture w/o his permission...grr..pease..so i'm hoping for him to report me..haha..for taking his picture while he is sleeping..hopefully...really can't wait..IDIOT...
  5. Everytime someone dies at my facility, I call my friend the RN to come pronounce the patient. I usually ay to her, " Hey can you come and say "Yup they're dead."
  6. I feel sorry for those of you that have been fooled by these LPN nursing schools.
  7. here's one, i worked with an lvn who gives report to 6a - 2 p nurse, everybody is ok when they are not, when asked for u/a results, why pt. is on ABT, she says "I don't know."one time she called the MD for a critical lab. result @ 0300 ,and pt. was already in hosp., I can hear MD screaming at her.HAHA.One time she asked if I can help her irrigate a foley cath. patient can get difficult, I had stop her ,as I notice she was about to put syringe to the bulb port, no wonder the patient fights her and then next shift say they have to change the foley. STUPID.

i feel sorry for the ADONs in Texas, when I use to in New Hampshire, we have a scheduler on staff, one less thing for ADON to worry about. Now my ADON is stressed out ,because our DON does not like to be on call, I have seen our ADON do a double 3 to 4 times a week when she can't find cover, no wonder she's quitting.
  9. I work the nigth shift, I now have 36 patients, pass meds, do skilled notes, blood sugars, and drgs changes, calibrate the cbg machines, check the temp. on the refrig, do vital signs, collect urine samples, get the lab.paper work ready,do my documents, do the pt/inr, phew, not to mention my reg. task, i like working this shift, but WHAT I DON'T LIKE is the other shift thinking that WE do not do NOTHING.......oh and yes my shift is designated to do all the monthly cath.changes,:flamesonb assessments for the skilled notes, monthly summaries, pain assessment, ALL bec. the other shift think we do nothing, funny thing is, a day nurse worked that shift 1 time, and did not get done and stayed 2 hours more, and still I have to pick up what she did not get done.to all night nurses, horay to us.
  10. ooops sorry, lack of sleep...hehe...i read radial...
  11. put your fingers (index and middle ) on the tip of you thumb and trace down until you reach the base of your thumb to your wrist .
  12. Men, I should show this site to one of our nurse that always complain about her work load on 2p -10p shift, she has 20 patients, 2 CNAs and a CMA, 5 patients are independent on ADLs and every now and then ,gets a new admit, and still complains to me, ( I relieve her 10p-6a ) that she did not get her TX done, which would be a total of 7 tx, minor ones, since rehab does the rest.Too bad she quit because our DON told her that she needs to do her PRNs and not the CMA, but all she needs to do is assess them ,since a lot of times she does not even know what time her PRNs were given......Cape, hope you are not looking for grammar errors.
