How did you explain your administrative action when obtaining a real estate license? Did they ask for an explanation or give you any trouble? I was just wondering since they ask if you have been disciplined by any professional licensing agency.

When I met with the evaluator for the program, she was a licensed therapist. I never saw an addiction doctor. I did not do any drug testing that day. Once I was enrolled in the program and signed up for drug testing is when I got tested. Urine first and then a hair test like the next week. Things may be different now because this was 4 years ago during Covid.

You are so lucky you get to take your ADHD meds. It was banned when I was in the program. I had to go on non stims and I struggled for 3.5 years. I have severe ADHD. It was a struggle. I wish I had a referral for you. Best of luck!

They will do a hair follicle test but it doesn't matter. It won't change anything. Two Norcos might not even show up. I tested positive for weed for months.

I couldn't do it either! He was caught diverting so many times. The last time he was caught he was stealing Propofol and the patient couldn't be sedated during a procedure because he had watered it down. After he was fired he was arrested for trying to break in one of those boxes for people to dispose of old drugs. He was only successful at being sober during monitoring. The BON didn't think he could continue his career without it. Last I heard he was doing well.

He had a serious addiction. I am surprised they didn't take his license after the 2nd time. He was in TN and now works in Florida.

I'm not a CRNA but I know of one that went into monitoring 3 times and was even arrested. He is now in monitoring for life. He is working successfully as a CRNA. You will too. It may not be your dream job initially but you will get there. Please don't give up hope.

Nope. You can not take them at all. If you take any type of controlled substance, you are not allowed to work. They will suspend your drug testing until you are off of the meds. After two negative drug screens then you can return to work. They have a whole list of substances that you can't take on the Maximus website.

Well I am only in for 3.5 and most of the probationers are out in two. I don't know where in California you are but that is the sentence of people in my nurse support group. Oh and we are all addicted. There are those that diverted and DUI's. I diverted and I am out In November. That will be a total of 3.5 years.

California's program is only 3.5 years. It's not 5.

You don't really have a choice. You have to do what they say or you will lose your license. They don't care about your finances or family. It is what it is. You have to find a way to make it work or you will have to find a new career.

It depends on wether you want probation or diversion. Either way you will not escape the BON. Diversion keeps your license clean but you will not be able to work for about a year as a nurse. You can get disability though. Probationers are able to work once their job is approved. However, you will always have a mark on your license. The BON doesn't care if it was only once or that you got help. Their job is to protect the public. The investigation process can take years so it's up to you. If you start Diversion it will be over before you know it. While it's lots of work it is doable. I actually enjoyed my support group. Best of luck.

Can perfume cause false positives for alcohol?

The time is about 3-3.5 years. It’s not a set date. It starts at your first clean urine test. At your two year sobriety date you can ask to start your transition paperwork. Once granted transition you have one year left. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Nurses can not use marijuana in California even though it is legal. It’s a violation of the Nurse Practice Act.

It will be from a Sacramento area code. If they can’t get a hold of you by phone then I am sure you will be notified by mail. Don’t give up nursing over this unless you just want to. Employers often don’t drug test that’s why you have to do it on your own. You could have easily put toilet water into a syringe for waste. I know, I have done it. It looks highly suspicious that you took it into a bathroom. I am not saying that you did anything but to others it could appear that way. How did your coworker even know you took it in the bathroom? Don’t worry too much because there is nothing you can do to change anything. It’s all going to be OK!

My incident was 12/18. I didn’t hear from the BON investigator until 4/20. I didn’t enter the program until 7/20. I never received a letter. I got a phone call from the investigator. I work with a guy who is under investigation and his complaint was made a year ago too. They are very back logged. Hopefully they didn’t report you.

It takes at least a year to hear from the investigator.

I haven’t had any experience, but my nurse support group leader is in NP school! She was on probation with the state so I guess it is doable. I wish you luck. You should go for it!

When I interviewed for my job, HR was present at the interview. My monitoring came up early in the interview. I disclosed everything. I felt like being honest and not having any surprises for the hospital. They were very receptive to me. I was hired and just started this week. Honesty, in my opinion, is the best way to go.
