  1. I've completed my RN probation about a year ago in California with the BRN. However, recently I've considered going back to school for NP license, but I'm scared that once I graduate the BRN will bring up the past and place me on another course of probation for my NP license? Has anyone been through this before? Would really appreciate some experiences with this!
  2. Hi, thank you so much for your experience and updating! just curious, if you are located in California and dealt with the BRN? I'm in a similar position as you where I've been off probation, however thinking of going to NP school, but worried the BRN will impose probation again once NP school is over. Was there any explaining or lawyer involved in the application for licensure process for your NP license?
  3. Hi Avi39, You are absolutely correct. The stigma that is attached to this probation is so negative sometimes I feel like before people hear about my story I'm judged. I cant believe there are people with the same scenario as me. My case is very similar to you and I had 2 DUI's in early twenties and came up in 30's. This process was by far the scariest process because there was no end in sight when I first started and you never knew when the BRN was going to come after you for something that you were not aware of. Thanks again for the encouragement it was really nice to actually hear from someone that has a similar background with me understanding the pain that I've gone through and have to live with for a mistake that was done so long ago..
  4. Hi Avi369, Thank you so much for that detailed information. My friends who did not go through this whole process said something similar, but I really needed the opinion of someone who has gone through the whole process. The application did not ask anything in regards to encumbered license and during the interview they did not mention anything either. I got accepted to the hospital, but started losing sleep about how to tell my future employer about this situation. My conclusion is I will explain it when it comes up and when they ask as it will come up in my license background check. Thank you again for your advice. I will focus on the fact that the 2 DUI that I had was over 11 years ago and how I've grown from it. I will have nothing to lose as this is something that I will have to live with for at least 10 years. Thanks again I cant say it enough how much encouragement I felt from reading your post. Wish you all the success in your nursing career.
  5. Hi there, thanks for your response. Is there a brn regulation that states even after probation is over I have to inform potential employer? Im not trying to lie or avoid it I just found it unnecessary before they run background check.. response would be appreciated.
  6. Hello to whoever it reading this. I was just wondering if someone has been in the same position as I am. I was previously on probation for DUI's about 11 years ago and paid the price for it about 3 years ago. I was released from probation last year. Does anyone know if it is necessary to reveal to potential future employer that I was on probation? Does it matter? I am scared and would love feedback! Thanks!
  7. Hello, kchilk, BSN thank you for your reply. unfortunately, I do not have the service to direct message you. However, I would love to hear your experience with speaking with FNP programs and directors and what your course of direction will be. would really apprecaite the feedback as I am really worried about having to go to FNP program and going through the whole probationary period all over again!
  8. Hello there, I am an RN post probationary discipline. Thinking about going to NP school for masters, but worried if I'll get another probationary term with my NP license which would be a deal breaker since I was on probation with my RN license. Anyone experience this same problem. I would love any feedback!! thanks!
  9. Thank you for the explanation. I see why I haven't seen an referrals directly. Thank you so much for helping me out and explaining things. I really appreciate it. I live in Los Angeles and used to live in Santa Barbara so getting out there would be no problem for me. I would really appreciate it if I can get the name of this board approved Dr. Thank you very much. My email address is: [email protected]

  11. Hello, I was just wondering if there is anyone that can please help me! I am getting ready to submit my application to the board but Im almost certain that I will be on probation due to my criminal background with multiple DUI's all of which occurred more than 7 years ago. I wanted to be proactive and have a chemical dependency psych evaluation completed before I turn in everything to the California BRN. I checked a few places and they were well over $4000 for a psych evaluation. After reading a lot of the forums on this website I found that there were places that people were suggesting to go to for a reasonable and board approved psych evaluation, but never any mention of an actual place. Is there a website that the board has for board approved psych evaluations for when you are actually placed on probation as well? Please help!
