I gotta shout out to everyone who has given me advice upon a very difficult decision.50k is not something that I wish to spend and I want to prove that I am worthy of being a nurse.No wait list makes it seem like cheating.I am begining pre-requisite classes at my community college that has a nursing program in October.It has good connections to universities with nursing programs.As always,nothing will be exactly as you think it will be but I cant wait to get started. I am starting pre-reqs for nursing school,so I may be biased when I say that I would only be a nurse.But if I would cjoose something else as a career.... Marine biologist.Weird change from a nurse,but I would do it.

Just took TEAS 6 today.Scored 71.3!First time!I know its probably not as high as others but I am proud of it.It is higher then the acceptance score and I am still proud of it.Cant wait,good luck to everyone out there taking it!:):):)

Dont know why I am asking this but I want to see the answers.I am going to be in nursing school this Fall and I know that clinicals wont be so far behind.I have my converse sneakers that I adore.Comfortable,I have run in them,and I do have a white pair.Can I wear these?Clogs slip off but I am okay with regular sneakers like champion or skechers.Anyone wear chucks?

Such wonderfully creepy stories.I am three months from being in nursing school,but I have many ghosts that I have seen prior to that.I wish I could take all of the best stories from this thread and make a book.That would be a best seller.

Continuing education.Like an ASN getting a BSN.I heard of this before.

It has a high pass rate for the NC-LEX.Some of the colleges around me have a NC-LEX that scores less then rasmussen.I have talked to the students who are now nurses and they say it is a good college.They say they came out of the nursing program stronger.One nurse came from a community college to rasmussen and said he liked it better,more structured.I dont know,I want to go there.I dont think anyone can just join.I am going to be a nurse.I have done my research.

I feel like if I get a job I wont be able to study for the program.On the other hand,I would feel like I was using financial aid in the wrong way if I didnt get a job.I want to do my best in college and I feel like a job would make it suffer.At least for my ADN(or is it ASN?).

I believe I am a dependent(living with parents and no job).I dont want to sound greedy,I am looking for a job,but I have 2 years of nursing school ahead of me and only 5 dollars.Will getting a job change the aid I recieve from financial aid?

But how long did it take you to get into the program?Every college withoin a 50 mile radius of me has waiting lists except for rasmussen and another college thats too far away.The lowest wait I would get was estimated to be two years.And I would have a year and a half of pre requisites.I want to begin my nursing career..I want to start my work as a nurse and have many fulfilling years to show for it.Thats just my viewpoint.Thank you for replying.

Im about to go to nursing school and wanted to know what the average amount that financial aid will pay.Im just out of high school and still live with parents.I also dont have a job yet.Will this give me some aid or is it just like $1000 per year?

I have heard that if you agree to work with a hospital for a certain amount of time,say two years,they will reimburse the money you spent on the college degree.I dont know if this is like an internship,but is it true?

I am a pre-nursing student.I am pretty much set to go to Rassmusen college.I know a few nurses who went there and they say it was wonderful and very good.They say they got jobs quickly and are pursuing or have pursued a BSN.The ASN program is 50,000,but I find that my time is worth way more then my money.Im not blowing money away but I am set to go hereIt will take less then two years and I dont have to wait for a three year waiting list.The people there are very nice,nicer then some other colleges I have looked at.Anybody know anything about the New Port Richey campus?

Dont give up.If there is one thing I can say,please dont give up.I did not get dismissed from nursing school,but when I was a junior in high school,I was relying on taking courses in college to do my pre-reqs.I was denied because I didnt have the paperwork for that semester and would have to wait another year.I was heartbroken,because I would be done with high school at tge time I could get some courses in.They would have been free.Sure I sulked and was angry,felt my dreams were broken.I felt like that was the only way I could become a nurse.I can say this,a week later,I found a program for nursing that was even better for me.I am so excited because I start this fall!Dont give up on your dreams.Its never too late.:)

Do you think its possible and okay for a nursing student to date a fellow nursing student.Can this get in the way of studying or is it just like dating in general?

As a pre-nursing student,I have many friends who are nurses who try to help me in any way that they can.One nurse told me that every nursing student has one thing that helps them through nursing school.This thing usually has nothing to do with nursing.She told me that hers was a cup of tea and a recorded tv program that she would watch for half an hour to calm down before going to bed.She sometimes didnt hold this schedule because of studying and clinicals,but she said it gave her a little fun in her life without straying to far from home or her wallet.Any things that you have done to keep yourself motivated and relaxed in nursing school?

Everything you have said is almost similar to my experiences.I am a pre-nursing student and I had to go to orientations and tests.I was the youngest one(still in high school) and everyone except the teachers talked down to me.Everyone else was looking for nursing as a second career.They pushed me aside,literally,probably cause im pretty small.But being small also means I have to use my voice more.I was the only person to really ask the questions and get down to the core of the orientationBeing an introvert doesnt mean you cant be a wonderful loving nurse.As my grandmother told me-Speak up,theres always someone listening.Learning to use your voice is hard,and being a young introvert doesnt help.But...keep at it.Speak up for yourself and show them what you can do! Dont know if this will help,but best of luck to you!:)

Do you think its okay to refer the sick children you help as "my kids"?I have always thought that term to be wonderful and connect the children to the nurse more.Some people say you shouldnt,I think its okay as long as you dont think you are the parent.

Will I disappoint my family if I dont enter the specialty I told them I wanted in the begining?I really love ER setting but I love peds.I guess I will just wait for clinicals and see.Thanks!

I have that problem.Im short and people assume,since im a girl,I will want to be in NICU or OB/GYN.Not that there is anything wrong with these,I am stuck between wanting the fast paced ER or the precise oncology.I love peds,so I might go with ER or oncology in peds.Im kind of stuck.I told my mom I wanted peds and I think she thonks that is where I will be.I dont know.Keeping an open mind is what I should do.Thanks!

I am not a nurse,but I am a soon to be nursing student.I dont drink coffee,but people say I will soon enough.No offense to coffee drinkers,its just to bitter I prefer the double chocolate chip frappucino,cream-based.I could drink a venti of that stuff everyday.I have sometimes!:)

As a pre-nursing student edging towards nursing school,I find that my friends who are nurses tell me to get the largest travel coffee cup.I dont like coffee,its too bitter and I dont like the aftertaste.They tell me that I will need something extra then my usual glasses of water and green tea.They say that they could not have survived nursing school without coffee.I guess I will just have to prove them wrong.Any nurses who couldnt live without coffee?Any nurses who grew to love coffee?
