  1. In my drug calc class, we were taught a Glass is a standard 6oz, or 180mL. If you use that, along with other numbers given in these comments, you will get 1535mL for intake. ETA: the answer of 1535 does not include the IVPB at all. It's 800+120+180+240+180+15
  2. I am in the second semester of my ADN program, and one of the courses this semester is a psych/mental health class. I was initially very excited about this class, as I have thought since beginning the program that I wanted to be a psych nurse someday. I have been interested in psychiatry and mental health for years, largely due to the fact I have a mental illness myself. I was diagnosed with my illness about 12 years ago, and after some truly tough years, I am now in a very stable place. I have always been very open about my diagnosis, because I feel letting people around me see that I'm no different than them helps to break some of the stigma still surrounding it, at least in a small way. The problem: today was my first psych class, and we watched a documentary of interviews with people describing their hospitalization experiences. Unexpectedly, it made me feel very upset. Some of the emotions were too raw, and the experiences too close to my own, and I became very distressed. At one point, they talked about suicide attempts/ideation, and I ended up having to leave the room for a "bathroom break". Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do? Am I being too soft and emotional? I never expected these emotions after so long. Is my dream of being a psych nurse gone? I'm so disappointed in myself for reacting this way.
  3. I'm taking classes for my ASN program, working full-time, and still have time to hang out with my husband and family on the weekends. As long as you keep up with when assignments are due, and work on things a little bit every day, you should definitely still be able to have a social life.
  4. Follow your handbook! I just took the skills test with Pearson Vue back in April, and they wanted the steps performed exactly like the handbook, and they wanted them in order. I used the videos to study, but make sure to note where the video is different so you know to do the handbook step instead
  5. Benefit Medical has a line of liquid resistant scrubs that look pretty nice and less boxy. They offer both of their top styles in white. Sorry, I don't know how to link
  6. Is there a final exam in the course? I wonder if the 10 points might be added to a final exam grade, not the overall course grade. I am just saying this because adding 10 points to a course grade for filling out an evaluation seems a little over-the-top
  7. I second the Pocket Prep app, totally worth the price. I practiced with it (mostly A&P) and it really helped me a lot. The non-science sections are pretty much exactly like the book. If you can do them in there, you should be fine on the test. I took mine the end of last summer, and made a 94 overall using just the Evolve book and Pocket Prep. Good luck to you!
  8. Thank you for the info! I actually got my letter on Friday, and I've been accepted to the program! I hope your letter is good news as well!
  9. Just as a warning, $10/hr sounds great, but doesn't go as far as you might think. My husband and I pay &650 for our apartment, but I would never be able to afford it on my own. Once you take into account electric, water, internet, any other luxuries...you'll be living check to check. If possible, stay with your mother! I wish I had gone back to school while I was still living at home, work and school are hard to balance.
  10. Is there anyone else here who has applied for GA Northwestern's program for this fall? I am getting more and more anxious as the days pass, and wish I knew how they calculated their points for the HESI portion of the points calculation page. I only applied for this program, as I didn't really know it was possible to apply at more than one school specifically for their nursing program, so this is my only chance! Does anyone know when to expect information on whether or not you've been accepted? Thanks for any info!
