Hi everyone! I'm starting my first semester of nursing school soon. I always wear my Fitbit Charge 2 on my wrist. It tracks my HR and steps. It is water resistant but not waterproof. So I am guessing I probably shouldn't have it on my wrist since I'll be washing my hands so much. Some ideas I am thinking of: -Get a bigger band and wear it around my ankle. -Put it in my pocket, I think it will count my steps, but probably unable to take my HR. -Get a bigger band and wear it higher on my forearm, but i think this will be annoying as it keeps sliding down and I could possibly lose it. Other ideas would be much appreciated :)

I think maybe the payment plan was just deferring payment until you get your financial aid because when I called to place my order I asked about payment plans but they lady only said that she can defer payment for 30 days.

Hey guys, does anyone know if the Taylor Course Point Plus comes with the Fundamentals of Nursing e-book? I think it does, but if anyone has purchased it yet, can you verify? Thank you :)

Koi Lindsey were $25. I'm not purchasing the suggested books for now. Maybe I will after I get my tax return.

So I just purchased all of my uniforms, yay! I ended up going to the Scrub Shoppe in the Buena Park Mall. I ended up getting 2 Cherokee tops (style 2878) and 2 pairs of Koi Lindsey pants (LOVE them), and a Dickies Scrub jacket for just under $120. The lady even offered to sew on my patches for me! I was originally just going to order everything on Amazon, but I wanted to try stuff on in person, and it turns out the scrub shoppe was actually $5 less for the pants and around the same price for the tops.

I think it is the same price with the NSNA, I believe I paid $23 using the link from the NSNA site. As for the pants, I am having trouble finding non-see through white pants. I purchased some Cherokee brand cargo scrubs from Amazon, but they were totally see through so I had to return them. I think I'm just going to have to go to a scrub store and try some on in person.

Yeah, I'm hoping financial aid will help me out too! I can't afford to quit my job though, so I am hoping to be able to work 20 hours a week. I guess we shall see how that pans out!

Have you guys purchased your books yet? I've been kinda lagging on that since they are so expensive. Did you purchase from where they recommended on the handout?

My school requires a 10-panel screen before we start the semester.

Yes, I have 6 units as well. I think we add 193 later in the semster, at least that is what I jotted down in my notes from orientation. Also, I haven't gotten an email about family night.

The other packet is the student handbook. You'll probably have to ask them for one.

They gave me the formula for the temp conversions. No metric conversion factors. I personally use "King Henry Died By Drinking Chocolate Milk" to help me remember metrics. They asked for the area of a rectangle and did not give me a formula.

Let me preface this by saying: I have taken all of my pre-req courses (A&P, Micro, Chem, math, English, etc) so a lot of this was just review for me. TEAS overall score: 86% Percentile/Program rank :96 Reading: 85% Math: 97% Science: 78% English: 87.5% I ordered the ATI study manual 2 months before my exam. I studied VERY slowly(aka procrastinating) from it for about a month. I spent a few days getting through the reading section of the manual. Spent like a whole month on the math portion. I hate math so it was very slow and difficult for me to get through, lol. I spent about a week and a half on science(but I definitely felt like I needed more time here). I spent about a day on English..learning sentence structure and grammar rules. I took my first practice test about 2 weeks before my real exam. I had finished the reading and math sections of the study manual. I got a 78% overall on that one. I took my 2nd Practice test the same day as my test(2 weeks after the first test) and got an 88%. I wouldn't recommend taking 2 tests in 1 day because its exhausting..but that is what I get for procrastinating. I wish I would have started studying sooner. I did not feel like I had enough time to really review all of the science(78%). I spent a lot of time on math, my weakest area. It paid off because it went from 62% on the first practice exam to 97% on the real TEAS. So...my advice...start studying early! Take notes from the study manual, watch YouTube videos. Some of my faves are Khan Academy, Tyler Dewitt, RegisteredNurseRN, Mometrix, to name a few. Also, for science, the questions they ask are much more detailed that what is in the manual. So the manual is just a guideline of what you should study.

@zoephan, sorry for the late response, been super busy with the holidays and everything! Did you get the packet from one of the instructors?? And yes, you guys can register already, I think as long as they have your TEAS score. Has anyone bought books yet? They are so expensive -_-

Congrats! Do you have the packet from orientation? All the info is in there. If you don't I would email them to send you it via email. Not sure if alternates that were accepted have the same deadline as those initially accepted. If they are the same deadlines then you need to send your TEAS score to them by Jan.5. All Castlebranch documents(drug test, BG check, medical clearance,CPR etc) are due Jan. 31. Hope that helps!

Phew, passed the TEAS with an 86%. Glad that is done and over with. I think they send our score automatically to the school right? Since we took it there...just want to make sure there was nothing else I had to do after the TEAS test.

Is anyone else taking the TEAS tomorrow? I'm so nervous!

Just wondering if they take it into consideration when accepting students..or is it more about having your license and nursing school grades? I'm going to take my TEAS 6 in a couple of days to enter an ADN program. Eventually after I get my license I do want to go for my BSN. I do feel a bit unprepared for my TEAS test, but the ADN program only requires a 62% for entry. I think I'll be able to get at least a 62%. I am worried though that what if I get a lower score than I could have and it prevents me from getting a RN-BSN program in the future.

I don't think it matters if it is buttons or zipper as long as it has a collar. One of the girls was wearing a zip up one.

This might be a dumb question but I'm just wondering if when taking the test, if I am taking too long on a question, will the computer allow me to skip it and then return to it later? On the practice test, I think when I chose "flag for review" it didn't let me go back to them. I regretted flagging them for review because it didn't even give me the correct answers.
