Sac State Fall 2017
That's great.. I may have to check out your pro-pack and clipboard once school starts and see if they seem like things I would really use. I was a little torn on those items and decided against them for now only because i hate buying things I don't end up using and figured I could always order them later on. I definitely considered them though. I ended up buying the Classic III on medisave. Everything else is in my amazon cart right now. Thanks for your response, I appreciate you sharing.

Hey StudentNurseMamaBear, would you mind sharing which supplies you went with? I am thinking I'll order the Classic III, but not sure about the blood pressure cuff and other supplies. I think they probably matter somewhat less than the stethoscope and are all cheaper than the stethoscope, but none the less, I am curious what other people are going with. Thanks for the Medisave suggestion also, is it true they do not charge taxes to their listed price? What about shipping? I'll check their prices against Amazon! Thanks again:)

Littman Cardiology IV or Classic III for nursing student?
So I am in the same situation trying to decide between the same two scopes. It cracks me up, one person says definitely go with the classic, the next says definitely go with the cardio. Which did you decide on? Thanks!

Sac State Fall 2017
Hey thank you so much for the reply. I appreciate hearing your opinion and about the potential other benefits of joining. I think I'll go ahed and join myself, even if I don't order all of my supplies through the CSNA. Thanks again!

Sac State Fall 2017
Any of you joining the CSNA? It's not that I don't want to be supportive of our program, but the $40 membership doesn't really get us any better prices than does just ordering from amazon and some of the other medical supply companies online. What are you all thinking about this? Thanks!

Sacramento State Fall 2017
I believe you are correct. I basically did the same thing but with Statistics instead of English. I don't have the admissions information in front of me at the moment. I'll try to remember to double check and confirm a little later this weekend. But I know that when applying to the university I used my old stats grade and then was able to apply with my new stats class in progress for the actual nursing program. I would encourage you to really make the effort to get an A in the new english course even though it will not be calculated into your nursing GPA when applying. Hope this helps!

Well alright:) Thanks so much for the response. I'm generally pretty adept at following instructions etc, but this process has been a little confusing! I really appreciate the confirmation though so thank you!

Sacramento State Fall 2017
Sorry for the double post but I thought maybe I'd have a better chance at a quick response by posting the same question on both Sac State Fall '17 threads. Just wanted to double check with you all that the castle branch link is still unavailable. I keep looking but haven't seen it and I wanted to make sure I wasn't just missing the link somewhere. Thank you all!

Question for nurses that are male...
For the record, I am not attempting to make or support the argument that males are worth more money than females in the nursing profession. I just want that to be clear. However, the examples above are are anecdotal at best. And not that I never present anecdotal information, but when I do I sincerely try and make the effort to accept and acknowledge it as such. If we are going to argue about who in general, takes more sick days etc., I would like to see us present evidence based/statistically valid information based on scientific studies rather than simply present personal experiences as arguments, which we should understand generally do not mean very much. And that is not to say that anecdotes don't have any meaning, but we should be able to accept them for what they are. Hey does anyone on this thread know how to imbed video (such as youtube) into a comment?

Question for nurses that are male...
Wow... the blatant hypocrisy in this statement is bewildering.

Question for nurses that are male...
This is just not true. For thousands of years, men have been sent to war to fight for the privileged few (men and women), or have been made to do dangerous jobs such as mining, construction, etc. Throughout history males and females have both been subjected to performing tasks simply because of their biological sex.

Thank you... It was in my junk mail folder. I am assuming because we all received a receipt for our Pre-clinical verification but not the ITE that they probably do not send one for the ITE. I had not thought to check my junk mail which is why I initially inquired. Thanks again!

For those of you who have completed the Intent to Enroll and the Pre-Clinical Verification, have you received any confirmation email? If so how long was the period in-between submitting your forms and receiving the email? Thanks! **You will receive a receipt confirmation to the email you listed. Please keep this email, flag it, bookmark, etc. Do not lose the email receipt!** You can ALSO click "Edit My Response" on this webpage, and then BOOKMARK that page for you to edit your response in the future.**

Concordia Irvine 2017
Hi rcarney, Congrats on getting all your stuff submitted. I have been accepted to a couple other programs and have decided to attend one of those other schools instead of Concordia. I think Concordia will likely be a great program though.. Best of luck getting in! Let us know how things go.

Math requirement for RNs?
I would normally just read and not post on a forum like this, but since you specifically asked for input from students as well as practicing nurses, I'll go ahead and share my thoughts. I start nursing school this coming fall. I recently took the TEAS VI and didn't miss any problems on the math section. I found the on-screen calculator a little bit of a pain, and only ended up using it for a couple of problems to verify my answers. I am confident in my ability to perform chemical conversions, and dosage problems, the kinds of problems I think someone should absolutely be proficient in performing by the time they finish Intro to Chemistry (or any additional more advanced chemistry such as General or Organic), let alone Microbiology etc. That being said I have become aware that many of my peers are unable to complete these types of problems with any kind of proficiency. And while I understand there are instances where a calculator is not always immediately available, I don't think the real issue is whether or not people can perform these problems without a calculator, but whether they can perform them at all. I have found that a lot of people, at both a university level and a JC level, who are taking nursing prerequisites, are unable to do these types of problems, even people who have completed the majority of their science prerequisites. I constantly hear people say that they are, "just not good at math", but in my opinion you don't have to be good at math to learn how to proficiently perform medical dosage calculations and other related types of math problems. Anecdotal as it may be, I have worked as a teacher, and recently as a science tutor and have taught a number of people how to do them who all claimed that they, "just weren't good at math". Generally what it takes is hard work, regular practice, and repetition. I am of the opinion that most people who put in the effort can learn to do them. I am also of the opinion that anyone who wants to be a nurse should put in that effort.

Used CPR on my neighbors toddler today... it wasn't enough... warning, graphic..
To some, the description of an unconscious child gurgling as a first responder desperately tries to resuscitate, would be considered graphic. I imagine the OP was trying to warn people who might be especially sensitive to reading about such. Out of 100 some odd responses to the OP, yours was the only one without even a touch of empathy. Your response has me scratching my head, but to each their own.
