Ask your instructor if he or she can refer you to a former student who is stellar and may wish to earn money by tutoring. Most full-time instructors maintain relationships with excellent former students.
Another idea is to contact the microbiology department at a university in your area and ask for a referral to a grad student who would be willing to tutor for hourly pay.

our uni has a cool little tutoring lab that is open m-f afternoons that I assist in science tutoring. Im sure most unis have some sort of tutoring place. Ours is under the "academic advising" program. There are other names, but I'm sure yours has one also. first, I would ask your prof. He/she should know what's going on around campus.
Good luck, and be well.

I have a private tutor for math right now. I looked in the yellow pages of my telephone book, contacted a tutoring service that was willing to work with adult students, and that's how I found my tutor. It's costing $25 hourly, so I think I'm going to fire the tutoring service very soon, as I don't yet have the level of dedication needed to learn this stuff.
Thanks for all your responses guys.. I will definately try asking my teacher for a referral and if need be calling a univ. to ask if any grad students are willing..
Funny story, I called a local place called tutoring club and they did in fact have a micro major willing to privately tutor... two one hour sessions a week, a total of 8 hours a month, to the tune of $350 dollars a month.. I told her I'd call back lol

What's that, $43 and change per hour? Man, perhaps I should be out trying to drum up some tutoring gigs. And to think I was tutoring for free 4 hours per week last semester.
I'd expect a private tutor's going to run you $20-$30 per hour. That's what I get (when I'm not giving it away).
