Hello to all,
Many of you recognize my nick here on alnurses, I have been visiting for awhile.
I am in the midst of my chemo for appendcial cancer. I pretty much feel like i am dying for 10 our of the 14 day cycle, eat very little, drink very little energy. I use the salt water and bicarb swish and swallows for my mouth and through but that helps me very little with the lower GI mucositis (lovely, lovely side effect).
I have spent the past 4.5 months trying to remain a hospice nurse and not a hospice patient...now my employment may me in jeopardy.
Mostly I am looking for encouragement here. This is not a nice cancer and I am unbelieveably sad and depressed about my circumstances.
I know that I cannot seek medical advice here, and honestly that is no what I am seeking. Just some moral support, maybe a few words of wisdom. Thanks, my friends

Tewdles...
I am sorry that you are going through all of this. I admire your tenacity. You are fighting the good fight, and somehow finding time to share your wisdom with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
A friend's mother is currently battling primary appendix cancer as well (stage 4 signet ring). She is hospitalized as we speak, so I know from my interactions with that family that this cancer sucks. (ALL cancers suck, of course, but this is in the top three of nasty cancers, I think).
Please keep us updated, and I know we will keep you lifted up in prayer and thought.
*Hugs*

Thanks for your words of encouragment! Leslie I will check out the web sites tomorrow.
I also was lucky enough to have signet cells as part of my pathology. I swear that oncologists equate them with the boogey man.

My prayers are with you. Lots and lots of hugs . Try to pamper yourself and not worry so much, "a cheerful heart is good medicine but a crushed spirit dries up the bones" Proverbs 17:22
One of the drugs in my chemo cocktail came with a wonderful side affect that left everything tasting like metal... I know it is hard to deal with but I pray that you can find strength. Peace...
