Post NCLEX- what's next

Hey everyone, I passed my NCLEX a week ago. I called the state board of nursing (NJ) regarding the licence. They had told me to check back 10-15 days...

1) I'm wondering how long it took for others to get their licence in the mail.

2)Also, I notice that all jobs require 1-2 years of experience. Where should I try as a new nurse?

3) There are a lot of contract companies that help you get a job. But I'm assuming you are an employee of of the contracting company and they take a cut of your salary right?

Congrats, i would take the job and work the contract, most of them are no more than 2 yrs, you need the experience ..why not

1. for me it took a couple of weeks, but my license was posted on the BON website within 4 days. I live in TX, though.

2. Are there any internships in your area? That would be a good place to start.

Yes, internships are available but they only accept 1 or 2 people a year and they have hundreds of applicants. I might look into per diem also. Also does anyone know a nursing recruiting company?

Indeed.com for job listings (it's a meta search and pulls from a number of job sites) and it's free. Hit up the temp agencies, the legit ones. Working per diem is better than not working at all. Anyone who asks for a fee to give you job info, tell them to stuff it. If you have the money to spare, consider joining your state nursing association and go to the meetings if they have a local chapter. Getting to know people in your area may get you a job when nothing else does. Good luck!
