Pointers on Resume please.....

Hey guys. I'm trying to relocate and get a new job as an LPN in a new LTC facility and have only a couple of months of experience. Can you give me some pointers of some qualifications that you think I might need on my resume? I'm here scratching my head as to what I need to put down and it's just not sounding very professional. Please, anything would be great. Thanks

I used a software package to help me get started. Next I researched the places I wanted to work. Look at the advertisements for the type of job. Look at the website of the facility and similar ones. Read their mission statement and values, read through the site. Get an idea of how they express themselves and what they look for and at, then mirror it. I really found the software package helped a lot. I also looked online at a variety of sites for nursing resume information. Then I submitted my resume to my schools career center for review. Try looking in texts and the board of nursing website for lists of responsibilities and skills for the position. My Fundamentals text came with a second text on skills, see how many you performed, were trained at, are good at from school and clinical. Don't forget to mention community service, volunteering etc.

Hope this helps.

I'm not looking to build a resume, but I like this advice. I'll always remember when I need a resume.

Josinda421, didn't you have a hard time finding a job to begin with? If so I'd be really hesitant to leave without a fair amount of experience under my belt. Good luck and if I have you mixed up with someone else sorry. :)

JULES A....actually I'm looking to transfer jobs. Right now I only have some months under my belts and wouldn't be foolish to quit when I haven't reached a year yet. I'm looking to relocate that's the reason for the transfer and just wanted some pointers for building a resume being that I'm still new to this profession.
