I know each program is different and I have my orientation next month where I know they will go over everything, but would you mind sharing what you have had to purchase so far?
deposit, cpr, online safety course, background check, titers (that, I feel I really dont need), certified letter, to be continued :)

Par for the course, unfortunately. You still have scrubs, shoes, books, stethoscope, flu shot... Yup, it's expensive!

Two of the programs I applied to said I am looking at an out of pocket cost of $700-$1,000 before the program even starts...the other wouldn't even give me an estimate:eek: So I feel ya!

Horrible, isn't it? And I am convinced that the reason nursing textbooks are so danged heavy is that publishers can charge by the pound. Luckily, some of the swag you have to have for school will also be usable in your nursing career.

Luckily most of my medical requirements (vaccinations/physicals/etc) have been covered by our health insurance at 100% and what wasn't I paid for with our Health Savings Account because we have a balance there that has to be used by the end of the year so we don't lose it. SOOOO my pocket book isn't suffering too much yet...but it will be after orientation...and $1700 worth of books (YIKES! we buy the online access/books to all of our books for our entire program first semester) plus scrubs, shoes, stethoscope, other odds and ends....I'm silently having a mini heart attack about the cost part of this...but it will work out....it always does.
I have already gotten my BLS, so thankfully I don’t have to worry about that (really I just paid for it when I took it in June instead of paying for it now lol). My insurance is also covering all of my immunizations that I needed and titers checks-- but I am not looking forward to the hit my checking account is going to take buying books, shoes, scrubs, and anything else that I need to get!
Although I admit, while I’m not excited about how much it is going to cost, I am excited about getting my scrubs, shoes, and stethoscope. Like many, I have been working towards getting into nursing school for a few years now and I think buying all of those things will make it all feel real, as in this is really happening! Probably sounds silly, I know! :)

I wish I could have gotten away with $300. I've spent probably over $1000 so far. The spending for nursing school never seems to end. Lol.
