Just reading thru some archives & found a reference to OKCCC Associate Nursing program as "remedial"
Anyone have an opinion on this? I'm enrolled there for spring A&P I. I have a previous BS so I'm going for the AAS RN. I have tried to get as much info on the various AAS programs but it's all just the regular old stuff like admissions---I need real facts about the quality, environment, etc. of the CCs around OKC.
I would consider myself non-traditional, as I am 36 with a family and starting a second career, but I have found so many people just like me on this forum- that we are becoming the "regular students" now :)
I'm just undecided- maybe wishy washy- I thought I had definitely decided to stick with OKCCC- they have pre-professional programs, so they must offer pretty good instruction huh? But now I feel like I should look elsewhere, just to compare.
PLEASE- any first hand experience would be greatly appreciated. I would love to hear from grads or current students of any CCs or university- maybe I'll be swayed to pursue the BSN afterall.
(Thanks to OKNURSE2005 for the info on OUHSC Accelerated BSN on the other related post. You're take on it was different than they made it sound in the seminar )

Graduate of OKCCC-way back in '91, so things may have changed, but I felt I got everthing I paid for and then some. I am proud to be an AD from OKCCC.

Rose State is in Midwest City. Only about 5 minutes from downtown OKC. http://www.rose.edu
Pretty competitive to get in. They take 30 per semester now, up from 20. They utilize a points system.
Very high first try pass rates.

I think you may have gotten the remedial nursing thing from me. I've refered to it as the school of remedial nursing since my first semester there. I'm also old enough to refer to the whole school as socjoc. It's all tongue in cheek I assure you. My class had a very high first test pass rate. Since I went it seems to becoming a kinda OU Tech college. I was down last month to check on some just for fun classes and hardly recognized the place. I'm sure you'll be very satisified with the OKCCC School of Remedial Nursing.
Thanks. Sorry-haven't checked this thread in a while. I too am old enough to refer to okccc as socjoc!! I took classes there in the early 80s while in high school. You're right, it has changed. I have been impressed with the faculty, and level of instruction. Thanks again for your input.

I am a May 2003 graduate of OKCCC. I too had a bachelors degree in an unrelated field prior to attending nursing school. Our class had a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX, and I felt very prepared for both the NCLEX and my new job after graduation. Good luck!

I have heard really good things about UCO and OSU-OKC.
I know a girl who graduated from Rose and said it was a mess. OU I hear good and bad about. OCCC I've heard both good and bad as well.
If you want to look at the NCLEX pass rates (which I would encourage you to do first, if a school has a lowish NCLEX pass rate I would stay away) I posted a link on here showing them all (PDF file) from the oklahoma BON. I'll see if I can find that link and bump it up for ya.
