Since you are already thinking a step beyond your immeadiate task, which is what you have to do.

This is my advice, take a look at a few schools that you could see yourself applying to and look at there pre req's/requirements. The highest math that I have come across is Statistics, which in most cases is in a BSN program. Pay attention to the chemistry that the programs are requiring or will have you take. So in some cases, it may be required to take Organic or even Biochem.

Many times higher sciences(organic, physics) are not required but the people you will be competing with for spots will probably have extensive sciences. I am going to take organic, and entry physics prior to applying. Finishing my bsn MAy 07

That was my path....for like 10 years. Long story.

Anyway,I can guide you to the right school for your RN to BSN program. University of Phoenix Online is GREAT! I did it in 1.5 years and with a 4 months old baby at home. Very good program! My only sudgestion,make sure youe GPA stays high,above 3.2 with 2-3 years of exp. as a critical care nurse, and also get your CCRN. You can get it after one year in the ICU. It aslo depends on school you are applying to.

I am currently a nursing student and will be graduating next summer in August 2008 with an AS in nursing.. my ultimate goal is to become a crna. I plan to graduate with my AS in nursing and obtain my RN license, do the RN-BSN 2 1/2 yrs online program while working as a RN and at the same time get my ICU experience in.. hopefully I will have ATLEAST 2 years of ICU experience by the time I get done with my BSN.. and then will apply to a CRNA program.. I have the next 4-5 years planned out to a tee.. :w00t: and hopefully everything will follow through as planned.
well, my intial question/concern is this..
I have been doing extensive research up until now and something that's still vague to me is exactly what mathematics courses are needed to be completed prior to getting accepted into a crna program. I would like to make sure I am in the right path as far as required prereqs. Granted, I do know that every program have there own set of standards and requirments.. but surely there are BASIC mathematics prereqs needed/required for ALL crna programs right??
Regarding some of the ADVANCED science courses that are needed/covered in BSN AND CRNA Programs, such as organic chem and physics (if that is even required), do these science courses require certain levels of math to be completed?
I guess you can tell I am a little confused about the science and mathematics part.
I'm just concerned that the BSN program I will be taking in the near future will not include certain math or science classes needed for CRNA programs.. and you know how a lot of science and math classes are foundational.. requiring each be completed before being able to move on/advance to the next higher course.. I would hate to find out, at the end of my BSN, that I am missing something.
If somebody would kindly give me a general overview of the mathematics and science courses that will be covered in a BSN AND CRNA program.. that would be GREAT!! If somebody could help me I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance!!

I am not sure...I do not see how AA in arts degree will apply to Nursing!? Won't you have your AS in nursing though??? I know that should be enough for sure.

In my case,I was a graduate from nursing school in a different country. I had a Diploma in Nursing. When I came to the US I got a degree in respiratory therapy with an Associate degree in applied science. After I was approved to take NCLEX,I then applied to UOP online. It has been a long road. Do not waist any time. Get yourself in most critical care settings possible as a RN,get CCRN and when it comes to applying for CRNA you should be fine. Well,GRE...get that done asap if that's what school you applying to requires.

Be leary of the online programs. They are typically much more expensive than doing online through accredited universities. For instance, Texas Tech Univ. now has the RN-BSN online. You have to go to the campus once for 2 days and then it's a 12 month online program. Easy as pie. Much cheaper and faster than places like UO Phoenix.

Park ..... received my AS in nursing at a Fl community college then went on to FAU and obtain a BSN .............. so you do not have to have an A.A degree to go to a Fl university. An ASN is applicable to the nursing program and is transferable. Most of the BSN course wok at FAU can be completed online or taken in a 2 weekend format. I think I only went on campus twice to finish up some electives.

UOF is very expensive. Fort Hays State University in Hays Kansas has on online program that is much more reasonable in terms of cost. Shop around for an RN to BSN program that suits your needs. Save your money for grad school!

Your plan sounds just like mine. I started as an LPN, then ADN, then RN-BSN online while I got the ICU experience. Now I have been accepted to a CRNA program and I will start in August with a little over three years ICU experience. I highly reccomend the RN-BSN program at Regis University. I was able to complete my RN-BSN from start to finish in about 11 months. I went through the college network and clepped 6 or 7 classes. Statistics being one of them. You will need stats almost everywhere and Chemistry in a lot of places, but not all. I really liked the program because there were only two practicums and you could take as many classes as you wanted, so you could finish at your own pace. The added benefit of being able to clep a lot of the core classes was a real time saver too. If you are interested in thie route private message me and I will give you more info. Good luck!

I also found University of Pheonix to be very expensive. Luckily, I was eligible for tuition reimbursement at the place I was working at as a ADN RN. So, compare prices and when you get your RN look for a job with good tuition reimbursement policies so you do not have to pay for the RN-BSN. Many places do not require any time committment for this.
