Platt?

I also called and they would not tell me any information on the phone. According to the oklahoma board of nursing website, they have a low success rate compared to other schools. http://www.ok.gov/nursing/nclexpass.pdf

They would not tell me the cost of the program or anything about the test to get in. I read on here that it is almost $17,000.00. Is this also for the LPN program? How long have others been trying to get in at the local vo-techs?

platt college in okc 2005 was 86% in 2006 it was 70% ..the platt college in tulsa is high @ 97%.....i think it depends on the individual.. but i intend to pass the first time around! oh and i received grants so i wouldn't have to pay any where near that amount:p ...but i understand the concerns some people have about the school, there are things i certainly don't like about it! but i do love the ability to bridge over to there rn program and graduate in 2009, but it depends on your goals as an individual.. my goal is to a cde( certified diabetic educator) platts program just worked for me:clown: have a good weekend to all and i hope you get into the school of your choice!

sugar- what Platt are you going to. If you don't mind saying, how much did you end up having to pay? The lady I talked to on the phone would not give me any information. I would really like to know because nursing is the career I really want to be in. Thanks and have a great weekend.

hello okiegal, i will be going to the one in okc...i recieved 4-5k in grants, i dont like how expensive they are but for me its not to much of an issue.its pretty easy to get into, its a very intense program so alot of students fail or drop out. but the instructors are always available for help. i know an rn i used to work with at a ltc facility she was my adon highly recommend this school she is also one of the instructors there. so she is one of the reasons i chose this school. just personal preference for me... good luck to you in your search for the right school for you!

I will graduate the RN program from Platt, OKC. in 2 weeks. I was fortunate in that I only had to take the core nursing classes. I did receive some grant money, loans through Sallie Mae and the rest came out of my pocket @ $4,000. The cost of the program is so high that most student Lending companies cannot cover the full amount. As a college student, regardless of where you attend school, there is a loan maximum for each year you attend college. The program is fast paced, the instructor turn over rate is high. The OKC Platt RN program is not NLN accredited and they will attempt for the second time to obtain it by the end of 2007. Now, accreditation will be important if you will be transitioning from RN to BSN. Right now, the only school that is accepting Platt grads from OKC campus is University of Phoenix, where I am going next. None of the major universities would even consider my application. Let me first qualify this with: there are two sides to every story and I have only one side to tell here because that is the only side I heard. I was at a clinical day on Monday (I am at TTC for LPN and TCC for RN) and a student from Platt came in to say hello to one of our students. She said that the RN program builds on learned units and that if you can't pass one unit you are failed from the program and asked to leave. And you don't get any of your money back. She also stated what each person pays varies... from $17k to $22k.

It is true that the program costs 18,000. Student loans, grants, transfer credits usually cover the cost and what is not covered the student pays out of pocket. I ended up paying @ 3,000 out of pocket. If you do not pass a class then you are given another chance to pass the class at no cost. If you fail the class for the second time you can still repeat the class, you will have to pay for it. The program is tough, but they give you every opportunity to pass the classes. I am not a big fan of the school and I don't agree with the way they do things. There were several students in my class that came in at different times of the year. They had failed this portion of the program and jumped back in when the class came around again.

My current clinical instructor used to be a clinical instructor for Platt and all I can say is I wouldn't waste my money on the OKC Platt. I have heard NOTHING good about that program.

if anyone has any info about Platt please PM me. I also would like to know somethings about Oklahoma city and Tulsa,OK because I plan on relocating there to attend Platt. I am from Washington,DC. I saw some apt for $300and up for 2BR is this realistic.

well....i have decided that i am not going to worry about platt or have anxiety over it....its just a school...so i am going to have a goal...just to get in there do my best give it my all...and if it is a bad school there is nothing i can do about that i will roll with the punches! but if it just happens to be not so bad...than that s great it worked out okay for me haha ...i dont expect alot out of people or schools i expect alot out of myself...it will be up to me if i graduate or not..not the school they are just the stepping stone...than again we shall see:specs:

When I was gathering information about the nursing (LPN) schools I was potentially interested in attending, I couldn't get any questions answered from them. A lot of dodging, which made me a little weary.
