Phone interview for relocation?

Published

Hi all, I am trying to relocate to another state and I have applied for a position in Maryland a couple days ago. Instantly, I got a call from the recruiter for general questions and she has set up an official phone interview with the nurse manager of the unit. But I've never had an interview over the phone so I am freaking out!

What questions should I be expecting? I've applied for the NICU and I have experience in the NICU. Will I get clinical questions where they give me a situation and tell them what I would do? or should I be expecting general interview questions? She said it'll last about 30 minutes. Please help!

It will be similar to an in person interview. Since you have experience, they will ask you about the types of babies you have taken care of, types of vents you use (conventional, Oscillator, Jet), type of EMR you use, etc. Essentially how much orientation you will need once you start.

Specializes in Tele, ICU, Staff Development.

Whether it's Facetime or just audio, make yourself presentable as if you were in a live interview. This boosts your confidence.

Be sure and research the organization (minimum, know the mission and value statement) so you can answer "Why did you choose this hospital?"

Good luck!

Phone interviews are usually basic initial questions. They usually ask your background (mention your experience, your education, and certs) what type of position you are looking for (day/night), why you applied there, what pay are you expecting, and when you will be there or available for in person interview (if they want to continue the process).
