Persistence is paying off...

I was informed tonight that I was professionally recommended by the October Navy board for direct commission. Not out of the woods yet but this has been an incredibly tough process. This community solidified my resolve and helped me with keeping hope alive, for this I am truly thankful. Sometime in a couple days I'll post a timeline in regard to my process. Until then, everyone be good to themselves :]

What is your preference, if I may ask?

Not quite sure yet and really open to any place. I wanted to speak with our detailer to get an idea what our options are, hopefully he'll call me this week. What about you guys?

My top three choices were (in order):

1. Pensacola, FL

2. Jacksonville, FL

3. Portsmouth, VA

I'd really like to stay relatively close to home at first, just because I've never lived away from my (very large) family. Same with my husband.

That's a good idea. Being near family the first tour will ease you in nicely to military life. We're in the same boat, we live in Seattle, so if our options are limited but Seattle area is available we may take it. For me personally, I'd like to see the rest of the world.

NOW only if *our detailer will call us...I know they're busy but man...maybe shoot us an email back and arrange an appointment?

*When I say 'our' I mean the Navy Nurse Corps community detailer :]

Spoke with the detailer today! I got my first choice and will be going to the Jan. 2 ODS! :)

Traumajunkie! I'm so happy for you and your family, glad everything worked out :] Make sure to go to the ODS website and start memorizing!

Congrats to all those selected!! I'm still waiting for November boards dates to be released and hoping that when they meet my packet will be there. Just a random question to you lucky selectees, once the process is complete do you have the opportunity to rate your recruiter?? I'm not sure how my recruiter earned his job (I'm in the Ohio region) but he has absolutely no personality and when I ask him a question he basically acts offended that I would dare do such a thing. I'm pretty sure he could care less whether I get in or not. I want to report him, but obviously I want to wait until my fate is out if his hands. My processor, on the other hand, is fantastic. Good luck to all still waiting! If anyone finds out when the November board meets please pass the news along because my recruiter certainly won't!!

ERMags, hang in there, if Traumajunkie got into the January class, that means there are more slots to be filled the rest of the year. I saw the the navy medicine manpower site the list of classes throughout the year. I'm thinking you won't need another recruiter, because you'll get in!

I don't think there's a way to rate your recruiter, for me I just respectfully asked for another. I actually just went to his boss and she gave me a new one. Another thing, if your processor is awesome than that's good. He/She makes sure you kit is sealed tight and ready for delivery. Good luck.

One last thing, Traumajunkie, tell us when you get sworn in, I'm curious if you get your CAC card and get your dependents their ID cards as well.

I've received news today that I will be in the 5 Feb ODS class then stationed in Bethesda, MD. Best wishes to everyone!

It sounds like they're chipping away on getting those orders out. Congrats bfrei! My brother used to work at Bethesda, he said it was a really cool place except for when they have to lock the base down when the President comes through. Was Bethesda your first choice?

Thank you. Yes, bethesda was my first choice. I currently live in Seattle and have always lived in the pacific northwest but I'm ready for a change. Oldlove, good luck with your choice in bremerton, the campus there is beautiful!

Thanks Bfrei, I agree with you on the beauty of NHB. I was there when I was an HM3, my wife would LOVE it if we get stationed there, but I'm like you. I need a change of scenery :] But in the end...Happy wife, Happy life.

Did you swear in yet?
