Pell Grants

Hi, I am very new to the college thing and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a Pell grant is? How much it is and what does it cover? I applied for student aid and it said my EFC was 0. I start my classes on Monday and I don't even know if I can afford to pay for it yet.

i can help you out a little cause we are from the same area so we would probably get the same types of financial Aide.

A PELL grant is a grant funded from the government, there are also grants funded from the state, like since we live in PA my state grants come from AES. i think you can get up to 2025 in PELL grants your first year and then a little more each year you are eligible for PELL grants. You do not have to pay grants back.

Now if your EFC was 0 then depending on what is left over from this fiscal year, they will give you the max they can give you, at least thats what they did for me last year when mine was 0. Most schools in this part of the state that i know of will let you attend classes and buy books with your financial aide even though you have not gotten it yet. They will just automatically deduct anything you owe them from you aide when it comes in. Hope that helps at all

do a web search on Pell grant or maybe search allnurses

Have you filled out the FAFSA forms yet? Normally once those are filled out and sent in whoever it is that makes all those descisions hand out grants based on need.
