Pay rise.

nurses offered 8% pay rise over three years

dr peter carter has recommended members accept the deal.

the government has offered nurses a three-year pay deal that could give them a pay rise of nearly 8% by 2011.

forgive me for being cynical.. but whats the catch?

I wont get it- doesnt apply to us out in general practice!

so over three years we will get 8%

that equates to...... 2.6% a year

whats inflation running at?? does anyone know??

:uhoh21:

8% of not a lot = not a lot. Would not mind 8% of MPs salary though.

makes good headlines...nurses offered 8%. then when we say -hang on thats just over 2% a year.. below inflation.. then we become greedy, intend on destroying the nhs with our unreasonable demands...

yep I am cynical. Problem I have is, I have a mortgage and I dont think the lender wil take buttons as part of my monthly payments...:wink2:

well i am sick of nursing in general, so im looking hard for a new job

Really!???

Not that I blame you but wow!

What you thinking of medical rep? :D

Don't those speedway meets need good nurses on standby?? Maybe you could offer your services there to keep your hand in??

its funny you should say that, the medical team which is 2 paramedics and 2 first aiders get 1000 per meeting for our motox meetings and they are booked out to venues at least five days a week!!

saw an ambulance for sale when we picked up our race van, not much money either!! all the gear was still in it too :lol2:

seriously, Im an amateur photographer, I have articles published frequently in the racing press and our local paper and sell photographs at the race meetings and other things around the county such as pet pictures at village shows and babies and stuff, I like taking photographs, it makes people happy whereas everyone at work and their relatives seem ungreatful these days....

i love seeing the smile on a moms face when i show her baby photo to her or the lads at the racing loking at the shots ive taken at the racing, i find it satisfying, unfortunately nursing doesnt do it for me anymore...

Sad but understandable.

Hmm well, toss a coin, what would you prefer, taking pictures of half dressed muddy men on bikes or wiping bottoms hehehe

Well.........now that you mention it ..................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???:rotfl:

"Muddy bottoms" - sounds like a place John Cleese might visit, sorry, it's been a long day....
