I agree!

Thanks :wink2:

i make 17.05 base, 4.00 more to work on weekends, something like 3 more to work hours btw 6p-6a (makes no sense since shifts are 7-7, but who knows?).

10 bucks more for holidays

Our nurses start at ~$20-21/hr. Time and a half for holidays, 3 more for weekends, 15% for nights, and any extra shift is time and a half +$15. So you would make $45 for your first extra shift. Also, to be on call is $5/hr.

that's a good question. i just graduated in may 2005 (and was curious about it too). i'm working in the or, starting at just over 30/hr with 6.50/hr stand by pay (when on call) and time and a half for call backs. i should mention that i was already working at this hospital as an lvn and was at the top of that pay scale - i don't know if that makes any difference.

ugh....the pay here is $16.36 an hour! I think when I do become an RN that i will get an apartment an hour from here and work in a larger hospital....

i've been wondering the same thing. i'm in my second semester of clinicals in an adn program and will be graduating next december. i live in louisiana, but i would love to move back to california (lived there for 5 years). been checking on apartment prices, though, and it's outrageous--$1200 to $1500 for a 2 bedroom. i'd like to know if i would make enough money to pay that high rent and still have money left over for other things, including a savings account!

any input would be appreciated.

btw - i think rns start out around $18/hr. here.

wow, it's different everywhere. keep em coming!

thanks guys! :flowersfo

I work at a very small community hospital (43 beds) and my start off pay was/is $18.50/hr + $1.75/hr for nights and + 8/hr for weekends (love those weekends! ;-) There are 3 larger hospitals within 30 minutes of my home that start off in the $20/hr range, but I absolutely love this small hospital and it is only an 8 minute drive for me.

At my hospital we start out at 20.60/hour. BUT! Since nurses are in such high demand here, we give incentives to work extra.

Premium pay - 4.00 an hour more on the weekday

8.00 an hour more on the weekends/holidays

Incentive pay - 35.00/hour for units that are chronically short staffed (mine)

Afternoons - 1.00/hour more

Nights - 2.00/hour more

We pay double time on holidays. So lets say for example, you are a new grad and decided to pick up 3-11 for me on Labor day. You would get

35.00 Incentive pay

+35.00 Double time

+ 8.00 Premium Pay

+ 1.00 Afternoon Shift Pay

79.00/hour!!!!

not too shabby, if you ask me:wink2:
