panic attacks

I can not understand while all of a sudden I am having panic attacks. I finished nursing school and I have more free time but I woke up Christmas morning in a horrible panic. I was completely terrified. Today has been better but I am afraid to go to sleep because I am afraid I will have a panic attack again. I purchased some Benadryl at the store tonight but I am afraid to take it. What should I do? I completely have lost my appetite. These panic attacks have affected my GI system greatly. I dont get it. How can everything be fine and then the next day be falling apart. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had the good fortune of being able to track down the cause of any episodes that I have had. It sounds like this a discussion you should be having with your doctor. Good Luck, and Happy New Year. I hope it is something simple like an MSG allergy.

GO SEE A DOCTOR!

While I wouldn't dream of making a diagnosis, panic attacks coming out of nowhere were among the first symptoms of my sisters' depression. This of course does not have to apply to you, but shows that what you are going through CAN be serious. Don't ignore it, don't rely on info gathered through the net, from friends, friend of friends, family members ect., seek professional help.

I agree with the above poster. Seek professional advise from your doctor. Have a Happy New Year. Good luck. Will keep you in my prayers.
