Can someone please explain why an EMT would record a BP on a HOTN pt as 100/P? Dr said EMT was just trying to show off, but that it is incorrect.

    Not quite the same thing. when measuring SBP by palpation, you are getting a fairly accurate systolic number. If you can't feel the pulse, you can use a doppler to listen for the pulse return. Its quite effective in emergent situations when you can't hear anything.
