Apr 27, 20188 yr Hi,I applied to LA county hospital (Feb 2018) and passed the exam (April 2018). Now, I am officially on the eligible list for RN 1 position.I got calls from Harbor-UCLA and LAC + USC right after I passed the exam and scheduled interviews with them. However, I prefer to work at Olive View - UCLA (because I live very close to the hospital).I have emailed twice and called once (left voice mail) to a HR person but haven't heard anything back from her.I am thinking to stop by HR office at Olive View - UCLA, so that I can make an appointment for job interviews. Has anyone tried to just go to HR office at a county hospital, to schedule an interview?Or should I keep calling her till she answers? I don't want to appear too pushy because I heard it doesn't look good to HR people. Please give me any advice!Thank you so much!
May 7, 20188 yr Hello!Call the main line and ask for the number to Nurse Recruitment/Retention office and then ask to be transferred. HR just processes new hires and deals with the paperwork, so they would not be able to help you with regards to positions and interviews. I am a relief nurse at HUCLA. Good luck!

Jul 27, 20187 yr Hi everyone! i realize this post is a few months old, but I was wondering on average how long does it take to receive the results for the written online test?
Aug 4, 20187 yr Hello! I also applied to this position, I took the online exam you hAve to do through county and just yesterday I received an interview for olive view but never received a letter from county saying I passed? Did you end up getting hired? I keep hearing we have to take a math test the day of the interview if you have any advice I would appreciate it! Thank you!
Aug 5, 20187 yr @Dom27 hello! I'm assuming I passed since I also got a call on Friday to go interview at Olive View too. I believe we'll receive our results until 2-4wks from our testing day. I haven't heard anything about the math test though.
Aug 7, 20187 yr By chance, do you know what units will be hiring? the lady from HR said that many units will be hiring but she didn't specify which ones.
Aug 17, 20187 yr I can't figure out how to navigate that website to see particular specialty listings. It just lists "Registered Nurse 2," etc. Anyone know how to better navigate it?
Aug 28, 20187 yr Author I can't figure out how to navigate that website to see particular specialty listings. It just lists "Registered Nurse 2," etc. Anyone know how to better navigate it?Hi! I am sorry for late reply. You need to apply for RN I/Relief Nurse position, no for specific unit. You need to apply and pass online exam first. After passing the exam, you will be on the eligible list for the position for a year. Then, you can call HR and ask which units are hiring at the time.Good luck!
Aug 28, 20187 yr Author It totally depends on the time. When I was called for interviews, many units were hiring. When my friend was called for interviews couple months after me, only 2 units were hiring. First, you need to pass online exam and be on the eligible list. Then, HR people will let you know units hiring at the time. If you don't want to work for any of these units, you can wait and call back HR to ask a month later or so. You will be on the eligible list for a year. My friend waited for 2 months (because she didn't want to work for Med-surge or Psych) and got a job at Peds.
