Oh DEAR.......

Thanks for all those who replied about night shifts. I have done 4 weeks of nights and guess what i'm off sick! I have had a migraine for 3 days and nearly fainted at work. I have felt generally unwell. I have been to drs and am told i'm exhausted and to slow down. The thing is i do like nights better than days. The past few weeks at work we have been extremely short staffed and having no breaks. If i do nights i do 4 a week if days i do 3 long days (14 hr shifts) unfortunately i have had to go back on days, which are just as or even more stressful. I really like my nights too but i seem to need more sleep when i do them and dont always get what i require.

on my days off from nights i'm wide awake in the early hours of the morning and awakw during day even tho i do feel tired at times in day. Unfortunately my body does not like night shifts.

Has anyone who does nights on a regular basis feel like this at first?

I was like that when I first started working night back in 1988 and I loved it and stays on nights for 8yrs. I worked 7 nights on and 7 nights off, brilliant when booking holiday as 1 weeks holiday resulted in 3 weeks off

I did 5 years of nights and I did not sleep well for 5 years of nights.

I did nights for many years and initially did fine, but the last six months were difficult. Good luck...
