Hello! I have been a registered nurse for 1 year now. (Dialysis Nurse)I was a dialysis technician for 5yrs then became a nurse. I am interested in a endoscopy position at a local hospital in my area. In nursing school I wasn't strong at starting iv's. Which has really made me afraid of applying at hospitals. I don't want to be stuck in just one area. Can someone tell me what the position consist of.
Been there,done that, ASN, RN

You have been in dialysis for 5 years now... stuck there, if you choose.
However, you have that golden one year of experience.
You have MANY options now, why are you drawn to the endoscopy position? That position will stick you in one position. Most likely (haha) requiring YOU to stick the patient. You would start the IV and administer the required IV medications during the procedure.
Lack of IV skills , should not limit you in any new endeavor.
Best of luck.. think outside the box.

The more you practice, the more proficient you will become. There will always be *a* patient who will take 5 nurses before you can get the smallest gauge in. Go for it
