Nursing

I am not sure I am smart enough to be a nurse

I am not really great at spelling or math but I want to be a nurse really bad, I have wanted to all my life and I have been working really hard to improve myself.

some encouragement would be really appreciated

I don't know if you have the aptitude or not, and I don't ascribe to the idea that our thoughts influence reality... BUT. Thinking "I'm not smart enough" will not help you to do well.

I will say that my 10 yr old daughter is a smart little cookie -- she's proficient in a language that's considered difficult and not spoken at home, her teachers say she's good at math, she picks up her gymnastics choreography quickly, she reads above grade level.... and her spelling is atrocious!!

Are you working on any prerequisites right now? Have you spoken to an academic advisor? Is there anything specific we can help with?

Encouragement is actually quite cruel when it's not realistic, and wanting something really bad doesn't mean that you're cut out for it. I would encourage you to seek advice from people who know more about you than the few lines of information you've provided for us here ...or maybe check out a few nursing programs in your area and see what their requirements are. For competitive entry programs, keep in mind that the requirements are minimums and you may have to exceed them by far to actually earn a place.

I was a horrible student in my high school years and I'm a nurse now. It can be done, just not in every case.
