I have heard of hospitals paying for, or helping to pay for nursing school if there is a commitment made to work at that hospital after graduation. Does anyone know which hospitals offer this type of assistance here in OKC? I would appreciate anyone's feedback on this. Thanks!!

Call the hospitals and ask them! Human Resources should be able and willing to tell you.

Hello...I don't know anything about your situation, but I was a what they called a "Non-Traditional" student (which was just a nicer term for "older than dirt", when I went to nursing school. If you are a displaced homemaker, single mom, etc....go talk to your unemployment office. I was in the state of Mississippi at the time and they gave me a grant each semester in the amount of $1500 (if my memory serves me correctly). You just have to maintain a certain GPA. There is a certain time of year they accept applications and because its an involved process you need to start on that application early so it's ready when they are accepting. Just a little tidbit FYI

I was a recipient of this type of funding. The hospital did not pay for my entire schooling, but covered a portion of the bill. I still had to work full time and take out student loans. I had to have worked there in a position with enough scheduled hours per week to be eligible for benefits (as in not part time and not per diem) to qualify for the funds.

Most hospitals have this on their website. The hospital I went through does pay for everything, including books, uniforms, etc. It's a good deal!

Thank you so much for that information! Are you happy at your current job? And if so, would you mind telling me which hospital that you work for?
Well, I'm not in the Oklahoma City area . . . I'm in Northern Virginia. I was just saying that most hospitals have the info on their website is what I've found. Anyway, I'm not working yet, I have 11 weeks of nursing school to go! But the hospital I received the scholarship is the one I wanted to work for anyway, so it worked out well for me!
Best of luck!

I live in the Springfield MO area and all the hospitals around here offer 2-3,000 a semester in exchange for 1 year. Call the hospitals. The ones around here had stuff all over school to fill out the scholarship forms and a recruiter come talk to us about it.
